"Oh, no the photo! No." I sighed

"It's totally ruined. It's totally ruined." I said

"What?" He said

"Now you see why I don't let anyone in this room." I said

"I am pretty amazed that you've let me into your red room." He said

"Yeah, well, if you tell anyone, I'll poison you." I said

He smiled at me as he looked around my small room and I watched him.

"Oh, you don't have to... you don't have to look through that." I said

"Hmm?" He said

"No, no, no, okay." I said

"Yeah. It's cool." He smiled

I spun on my chair as he looked over at my things and I sighed.

"I like this one." He said

I realised it was the picture I had taken of him before we met.

"That's um." He said

"That's a cell phone tower." He said awkwardly

"That's an allegory for something technology co-opting our natural environment." He said

I handed him the picture as he looked at me and I smiled.

"Really?" He said

"Really." I smiled

"I know you hate compliments but this work is so incredible." He said

"I'm serious. It's like you can see things that nobody else can." He smiled

"That just shows how much you know about pictures and photography." I said caressing his hair

"I mean, I think you can sell this stuff." He said

"Maybe online to people." I said

"There is something that's missing from like all of your photos." He said

"Yeah, I know. It's colour." I said

"No. You." He smiled

"I just don't really think the world needs another selfie." I said

"Oh come on." He said

"What Is wrong with stepping in front of the camera every once in a while?" He asked

"I believe that a photographer shouldn't take photos of herself but instead of the world around them." I said

"Yeah?" He asked

"Yeah, so you can try and understand it." I said

"What about trying to understand yourself?" He had asked me

"If you had my past you wouldn't ask that question." I said

"You ever gonna tell me about it?" He asked

He spun me around on the chair as he looked me in the eyes.

"Come on. I'll walk you home." I said

"I never met my parents. They had died just after I was born." I said

"My mum I heard was a good woman but I didn't get the chance to find that out either." I said
