She walked away as I stood there and waited for him to come over.

"Hey." He said hugging kasey

"Hey." She said hugging him

"It's just three words." I sighed

"Hi." I smiled

He smiled at me as he kissed my lips and I kissed him back.

"Can we go somewhere to talk for a second, alone?" I asked

"Sure." He said smiling

"Yo, Brutha." A guy said

"Hey." Dawson said

"I just heard the good news." He said

"What news?" I asked

"Um..." Dawson said

"Oregon state." The guy said

"Nothings official yet." Dawson said

"Oh, bullshit, bro." The guy smiled

"No, I just talked to the new coach. He said it's now as good as done." The guy smiled

"Come on." He smiled

"Um..." Dawson said

"Okay." I said

I walked away from him as he followed and called out.

"Rosa? Rosa? Rosa?." He said

"Rosa, I was gonna tell you, I swear." He said

"When?" I asked

"When were you gonna tell me? After I got into RISD." I asked

"No, of course not." He said

"I just didn't want to give you another reason to back out." He said

"What about our plan?" I asked

"The same city? No more ticking clock?" I asked

"You weren't even gonna send in an application." He said

"I applied last week." I said

"Well, thank you for waiting until the last possible moment to tell me." He said angrily

"The truth is, Rosa, my dads not... he's not doing that well." He said

"He's really lonely in Oregon and I feel like I should stay with him for a while." He said

"Oregon is on the other side of the country." I said angrily

"How were we ever gonna see each other?" I asked

"It'll be hard." He said sadly

"I'm not switching schools permanently. I'm not." He said angrily

"And if you get into RISD, and you will, I'll be in providence before you are." He said

"What happens if you start to like Oregon? What happens if your team starts to win?" I asked

"Rosa, my dad needs me right now." He said angrily

"He's my family. I don't. You don't understand about family because.." he went to say

"Because I don't really have one." I said sadly

"That is not what I meant to say." He said

"I knew this was gonna happen." I said as tears fell

"I get close to people and they disappear on me." I said sadly

"This is just what happens to me." I said

"Now I understand why my brothers are now very overprotective of me." I said sadly

"Rosa." He said

"No, no." I said

"You just gonna push me away like you do everyone else." He asked

"The summer is over, Dawson." I said in tears

"And so are we." I cried

I ran up the stairs and out the back gate as tears now streamed down my face.

My heart was pounding out of my chest and I felt so broken and nauseous.

Two days later...

Two days went by and I was out the back when I saw kasey and Tristan.

"What are you doing here." I asked them

"Dawson says he's called you and left you a ton of messages." Kasey said

"So?" I asked

"So? You're ghosting your soulmate?" She said

"Kasey, my past is always gonna get in the way." I said

"Remember last year, You had spotted that old and rotting bridge and just had to get a photo." She said

"You had to jump into the water, even though it was freezing cold." She said

"You know what I was thinking when I saw you down there swimming against the current to get that picture?" She said

"Imagine if Rosa could be like this for her life, and not just for her art." She said

"He's leaving tonight, Rosa." Tristan said

"I'll be back." I said

I ran out of the backyard and then out of the gate with his hat.

I ran down the dark and cold street in just a crop top to get to him.

I saw him in his car driving as I stopped in the road and he saw me.

He stopped the car and then he got out as I looked at him.

"I'm so sorry, Dawson." I said

"I'm sorry. I'm. I should have talked to you before making any decisions." He said

"No. No, You shouldn't have to explain loving your family." I said

"If I hadn't spent my whole life just pushing my older brothers away, I would have got it sooner." I said sadly

"No, come on, Rosa." He said

"I love you." I blurted out

I laughed as he looked at me in shock and I smiled at him.

"Would you mind if I said it again?" I asked

"No." He said shaking his head

"I love you Dawson." I cried

He smashed his lips onto mine and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

As we were kissing a car came out of nowhere and he pushed me.

My eyes closed and my head slammed onto the cold concrete ground.

My eyes opened and I could barely see as now my breathing was slowing down.

I had walked over to his body as he was already gone.

And then I saw it. I saw my body I was covered in blood.

I woke up in a hospital bed as my eyes looked over at the tv.

I saw all of my brothers surrounding me and a nurse was writing down information.

"Welcome back to the world of the living." A nurse said

"Good morning, Rosa. I'm dr. Charleston." She said to me

"You've been in a very bad car accident." She said

"You've ruptured your heart due to trauma, which we were forced to repair surgically." She continued

"Rosa?" She said

I woke up in the hospital bed and rolled over to see him.

"Dawson. You're alive?" I said

He handed me a stethoscope and I put it to my ear as he smiled
