Chapter 10: The Raging Parents
“WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? WHY HAVEN’T YOU BEEN ANSWERING YOUR PHONE? IT GOES STARIGHT TO VOICE MAIL WHEN WE TRY TO CALL YOU! WE’VE LEFT OVER 50 VOICE MESSAGES BOTH ON YOUR AUNT’S PHONE! AND YOU HAVEN’T ANSWERED ANY OF THEM? WHERE ON EARTH IS YOU AUNT LOU? NOT ONE PHONE CALL! NOT ONE! TO SAY THAT YOU’RE FINE OR YOU’VE REACHED LA SAFETLY! YOUR AUNT LOU TOO! WHERE IS SHE? WHEN I GET TO HER! OHHHH! I KNEW SHE WASN’T RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO HANDLE YOU! WHEN ARE YOU TWO GOING TO STOP THINKING ABOUT YOURSELVES AND START GROWING UP? ANYTHING COULD’VE HAPPENED TO YOU!” My mom screeched from the phone, I held the phone to my ear with my shoulder as I opened the refrigerator to get a Pepsi. She continued to scream until she ran out of breath. “Maybe this wasn’t a good idea, I shouldn’t have let you leave!” She finished, catching her breathe. “Mom..” I sighed. I could hear her sniffing, she would be tearing up now. “Mommy..?” I say. “Yes?” I heard her say failing to hide her sniffles. “I love you..and that love I have for you won’t change..you made me leave to LA because you wanted me to travel and see the world, and live my life. Some little part of you wanted me to experience things that I should be experiencing at my age. I appreciate you doing that for me..I couldn’t have asked for more loving parents then you guys!” I finished. Silence on the other end of the phone, then my dad’s voice came on. “Hey bud!” Dad said. “Hey Daddy! I miss you! Please tell mom to stop crying” I say. He chuckled. “I miss you too bud! The house is so boring and quite without you around! Mom just went to the loo to dry her eyes, she’ll be back in a few” Dad responded. “Here’s the beautiful lady!” Dad cried “I’ll put it on speaker” Dad said. “Please be safe honey!” I heard my mom say. “I will mom! Don’t worry!” I reassured her. “So, are you going to explain why you haven’t been picking up your phone?” Mom asked. “Well, I bumped into someone in the airport and we switched phones, so he had my phone and I had his..okay! wait! Let me explain before you start yelling again mom!” “I got my phone back, because I met him again today! So don’t worry!” I quickly responded. But my mom started yelling again! “That person could’ve been a kidnapper! (Y/N)! Did Aunt Lou come with you?” Mom yelled again. “She had a date Mom!” I said. “So, your alone? Now? In the house? (Y/N)! That’s it I’m booking a flight back for you right now!” Mom yelled. “Honey, cool down!” Dad said soothingly. “Don’t ask me to cool down! I shouldn’t have let her go..” She continued to yell at my dad. “I’ll call you back later darling, after mom has calmed down and we’re both able to talk, in the mean time please be safe!” Dad said while Mom was still yelling. “Okay..love you both” I say quietly. “Love you too, send Lou my love as well” and he disconnected the phone call. I let out a heavy sigh as I plonked myself onto the couch. My phone started to vibrate again this time it was (Y/B/N). I set my phone down on the coffee table and pressed video call. (Y/B/N) came up on you phone, she’s changed a lot since you last saw her. “OMG (Y/N) WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!?! AND WHY HAVEN’T YOU BEEN ASWERING MY MESSAGES?!?! I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING! TELL ME NOW!” I giggled. “It’s nice to see you too (Y/B/N)!” I said.
