Chapter 5
I'm at the train station. I look around but no one can here me despite the bustling people rushing by me.
Then I see them. Standing hand in hand, non other than my parents.
"Mom! Dad!" I shout as I maneuver my way through the train stations busy crowds.
They notice me and smile. I can't help but smile back. They don't stop and wait for me though. They board the train as if I weren't even there. I'm still about twenty feet from the train's door when I start sprinting. I avoiding the nasty remarks from the people I push past. I'm so close. I can feel there presence within the atmosphere.
Then the train door slams shut. I'm only three feet away when the trains leaves. I don't wait to follow behind the train, running at a fast but constant speed. But as the train gains speed, I lose it and soon I'm doubled over and gasping for breath. I turn my head so I don't see what happens next, because like the times I've seen it before I know what going to happen.
Then I hear it. The screech of the train's brakes as they push down on the metal to stop itself. But it's too late. The crashing sound echoes seconds later. And I know there's nothing I can do as the other train hits into the train with my parents on board.
I feel the light around me waver, until it turns black, and the crashing sound echoes around in my head once again.
---------------------
"No!" I desperately scream as the image keeps replaying in my mind. I am sweating and crying simultaneously to where I can't tell my seat from my tears.
"Caleb?" I whisper yell. "Mom? Dad? Where are you?"
I slam my head back down into the couch and break into another fit of hysteric sobs.
After a while of crying, screaming, and groaning, I muster the strength to move from the couch. I grab the soup bowl on the floor beside the couch and load it into the dishwasher.
Once I'm done I check my phone. Seven missed phone calls with one voicemail. I turn up the volume on my phone.
For the first five seconds there is no sound. But after that there is a rustling sound and then a raspy voice starts talking. "Watch your back, Prior. I know what you're up to. Don't think I don't know. I'm closer than you think. Stay away or-"
The line goes dead. A chill goes down my spine and a million question buzz through my mind.
"Who called me? What do they know? How did they get my number? What do they want from me? What are they threatening me with?"
I toss my phone on the counter and rested my elbows next to it. I press my hands to my forehead and wipe back my stray strands of hair. I squeeze my eyes shut and try to wipe the voicemail from my head.
I look at the clock. It's already nine thirty which is alot later than I expected.
I don't waste any time brushing my teeth, changing into my pajamas, and going to bed.
