they walked away from the group and toward the edge of a small creek. senna sat down first, her feet in the water.

then sokka, he looked at her as her eyes stared down at her hands. she had been crying and he wondered why.

"is everything okay?" sokka spoke up, causing the girl to look up at him.

"yeah, i just wanted to get you away from them."
no, i can't do this anymore.

"i know you're lying," he said.

senna laughed a little and smiled, "you always know, don't you?"

sokka smiled and moved closer to her. she sighed and rested her head on his shoulder, staring off into the distance, "i need to tell you something but i don't want to hurt you."

she started crying again. sokka then wrapped an arm around her and held her close, "it's okay to tell me, i'll understand."

senna took a deep breath and lifted her head off his shoulder. she held his hand in her's and looked at him with guilty eyes, "this past year has been amazing. meeting you and the others was the best thing that ever happened to me and im grateful for you saving me. im grateful for what happened between us but you know zuko has been there since the beginning and he was the reason i was even on that ship..."

sokkas heart broke and he pulled his hand away. he knew how much senna loved zuko.

"you love him more, don't you?" he hoped he didn't sound mad or angry, but he truly was.

"yes," senna said, softly.

sokka bit his lip and nodded, trying really hard to hold back his tears. all the memories of them flashed through his mind.

the first words they said to each other.
their first kiss.
the way he felt when he thought he lost her forever.

"sokka..." she said, "say something, please."

senna grabbed his face with her hands. the way he felt when her skin touched his made him break and he pulled away and stood up. he couldn't do this anymore.

she stood up after him and wrapped her arms around herself, biting her lip to stop it from trembling.

"you said you'd understand! why are you making this harder!" senna yelled at him. the water in the creek next to them began to move around roughly.

sokka noticed this and knew she was on the verge of exploding. he had to calm her down or try to calm her down.

"i do understand, okay? but don't act like you're the only one hurt!" he shouted back.

her eyes hurt from crying so much. she couldn't even see two feet in front of her because of all the tears blocking her vision. she felt weak. he made her weak.

"fuck you!" senna screamed.

that was the first time sokka had ever heard her curse at him and it hurt like a bitch. but he didn't want to show her that he was hurt because he knew that would only make it worse.

"you don't mean that. please tell me you don't mean that," sokka said, walking closer to the girl. with every step he took, she took a step back.

"im sorry," and with that she ran off, ignoring the calls and shouts from sokka. she ran toward the woods, needing to get away from him and everyone else.

sokka ran back to the campsite, tears falling down his cheeks and met everyone's gaze, "she ran off. zuko, she really needs you."

zuko nodded and stood up, heading toward the woods. he shouted her name a few times which resulted in no reply.

then he heard the sound of crying.
bingo.

he spotted senna laying against a tree, crying her eyes out. "senna.." zuko spoke, making the girl jump.

"zuko, hi," senna whipped her tears away and fixed her hair, patting the spot next to her, "wanna sit?"

zuko nodded and sat down next to her. she rested her head against his arm and began playing with the grass they were sitting on, "i hurt him. i know i did. im an asshole."

the firebender shook his head, turning his head to look down at her and grinned, "yeah you did but-"

senna gasped and smacked the back of his head, "thanks a lot!"

zuko laughed and grabbed her arms to stop her from slapping him, "but he understands! he just wants you happy. also you can't just run off after breaking up with the guy."

she smiled a little. he was making her feel better although it sounded selfish, he truly made her happy.

"i'll marry you."

"what?"

senna grinned, pulling herself up and taking a seat right on the boys lap, "after aang defeats the firelord, i'll marry you."

zuko smiled and so did she.

the two looked at each other's lips and slowly leaned in, closing the gap in between them and they kissed. it felt right. like their lips were a puzzle.

they were always meant for each other.
since the beginning.
