THE STORY OF US

i used to think one day, we'd tell the story of us
how we met, and the sparks flew instantly
and people would say, "they're the lucky ones"

now i'm searching the room for an empty seat
cause lately, i don't even know what page you're on

SOPHIE reed had always wanted to avoid relationships that resembled her parent's. the arguments that resulted in not talking for days before everything going back to the ways things were before the argument just for the cycle to repeat. making the people around them uncomfortable with their arguments. everything that her relationship with dean was becoming. 

NEITHER her nor dean had the most positive relationships to look up to throughout their lives. her and fulton's parent's getting divorced did a number on both of the twins. while dean's parents were still together, they were very distant with each other and dean. both dean and sophie wanted relationships that were very different than the ones their parents had. 

REALIZING she loved dean hit sophie like a truck. they were on the phone one night having their regular late-night talks, dean in chicago and sophie in san francisco. she was listening to him go on about some movie he had went to see earlier that day when she realized that what she felt for him was love. she loved dean portman and she had no idea what to do with that fact. 

SOPHIE had never been in love before. before moving to california and seeing kenny's parents being so happy and in love, she wasn't even sure if she believed in romantic love. she wanted to express that she loved dean but didn't know how to. there were too many factors that could end in disaster. like what if he didn't love her back? what if he had loved her at one point but didn't anymore? what if there was someone else? 

SO, she never told him. instead, she began to slowly try to push him away without even realizing it. that's how their arguments started popping up. now sophie wasn't the only one to blame for the arguments and them drifting apart when they were apart. they both had short tempers. whether he was jealous or just in a bad mood and taking it out on sophie, dean had started his fair share of fights between the two of them. 

BOTH of them hated it. they hated arguing. they hated hurting each other. when they were together, they worked perfectly and they were always on the same page. when they both return to minnesota to attend eden hall, sophie and dean believe they had finally fixed whatever was off with them while they were in different states. they thought they were officially on the same page of the same book.
