CHAPTER NINETEEN: NASTY ASS PEOPLE
SOPHIE decided that to distract herself from the feeling that her life was crumbling before her eyes, she was going to look more into whatever was going on with Mindy and Luis. She had returned to her and Julie's dorm after helping Carter and Adam at the music store with her nerves eating away at her. She was worried that Julie would be upset with her or Rick about the fight with Charlie and Kenny. She was worried that Julie would be mad at her about everything that had happened since their game that she felt sick to her stomach as Carter and Adam dropped her off at her door.
When she opened it, she saw Julie sitting at her desk and working on homework. The blonde girl finished writing whatever it was she was working on before looking up to see Sophie and smiling at her.
"Hey, Soph!"
"Hey Jules," Sophie greeted with a nervous smile that Julie saw through immediately.
"Hey, what's wrong?" The girl asked as she stood from her desk to pull Sophie to their beds. "Tell me what's bothering you."
"I'm just so worried that everyone hates me right now," Sophie sighed as she rubbed her hands over her face. "After everything, I couldn't take you all hating me. You're my friends and all of you mean the world to me. After Kenny said he wanted nothing to do with me, I thought maybe the rest of the team felt the same way but you didn't. Everyone still cared about me and I don't want to lose that or any of you from my life. I love the team no matter what has happened or will happen. You all are my world."
Julie moved from sitting on the edge of her own bed to sitting next to Sophie on hers. The blonde pulled the brunette into a hug, holding her side against her chest.
"We don't hate you, Soph. We could never. You're one of us through and through," Julie assured her as she ran a hand through the other girl's hair. "You'll always be a Duck whether you're on the team or not. If anyone's upset with you about how things have gone down, it's on them. It's Kenny's loss if he doesn't want to be your friend. You're an amazing person and he doesn't deserve your friendship."
"I love you, Jules."
"I love you too, Soph. Now start on your homework so that we can watch a movie."
"I already finished all my homework but I'm going to go shower real quick."
Julie nodded and went back to her desk as Sophie gathered her pajamas for a shower. She took her time standing in the hot water as it fell down over her. She allowed herself to relax for the first time in what felt like ages as she felt her skin turn pink from how hot the water was. She stared at the wall ahead of her as she rinsed the conditioner out of her hair, thinking about how she would get to the bottom of the Mindy and Luis situation. She thought they did something but she just couldn't prove it. At least not yet. But she would soon.
She just needed a plan. A fucking great one at that.
Bursting back into their shared dorm room, barely dressed with her hair still wrapped up in a towel, Sophie started Julie to the point of falling out of her chair. She helped the blonde up as she began rambling about needing to borrow something from her and begging for her to hear her out.
Once Julie was sitting back in her chair and Sophie had calmed down just enough to be slightly coherent, the latter began her begging once again. She explained that she had suspicions of one her friends from Eden Hall was being cheated on and needed to get some type of proof to help break it to them. She asked Julie if she could possibly borrow her camera and camcorder to document any activity she witnessed.
