You and Inumaki decided to sit at a table in one of the buildings, the other listening outside the door. "That 'she' from my... premonition, was me?"
Inumaki didn't make eye contact, refusing to think in case you'd invade his thoughts. "Salmon." He nodded slowly.
You sighed. "May I ask why?"
Inumaki looked up at you, something in his eyes that you couldn't read. Again, his thoughts were silent.
You furrowed your brows slightly, concerned. "Ok. You don't have to tell me. It's ok. I was just curious, but you don't have to tell me if you don't want to. It's your business, not mine."
"Hey! Toge! Long time, no see!" A voice sounded from behind you, one of the doors of the room having been opened.
You turn around see a boy with a white shirt that cuts off around his elbows, messy black hair, and dark eyes with dark circles and eye bags that reveal a lack of sleep. You turn to Inumaki with a raised brow. "Who's that?"
"Okkotsu Yuta. He's the other second year- a special grade sorcerer. He's been overseas and I guess he just came back."
You nodded, turning back to the boy that had just approached you two. You stared at him silently.
Inumaki raised his hand. "Kelp."
Okkotsu smiled, hand up as his greeting. "Been awhile, huh?"
"Salmon." "Felt too long. I really missed Yuta."
Okkotsu's attention flicked over to you. "Oh, hi. I don't think I've seen you before. New student?"
You nodded, your attention on him instead of Inumaki. "Yes. I was a second year in high school until Gojo found me. I'm currently a first year here. My technique is matter manipulation."
Okkotsu nodded, taking in all the information. "She's kinda pretty. And matter manipulation? Seems cool, can't wait to see it."
You smirked slightly while listening to his thoughts. You purposely left out the fact that you can also listen to other people's thoughts and can communicate telepathically. "My name's Sakusa Y/n. I'm a germaphobe, so I'd prefer if you didn't touch me or come too close."
Okkotsu nodded. "Duly noted. I will be sure to respect you and your boundaries, I promise to do my best to not overstep or make you uncomfortable in any way."
"Germaphobe, huh? I've never actually met one. But that definitely explains the mask and gloves. And her entire clean appearance. I'll do my best to keep a physical distance, just be friendly so she doesn't hate me."Inumaki could tell that you were listening intently to Okkotsu's thoughts, making him slightly jealous... but also kinda curious about what his friend might be thinking. 'Why does she have to pay attention to him when she and I were having a conversation?'
Okkotsu looked at his fellow second year, seeing Inumaki's furrowed brows- a sure sign of jealousy. But Okkotsu didn't know exactly what he was jealous about, misinterpreting as Inumaki being jealous that his friend wasn't giving him more attention since he finally arrived.
Okkotsu went up to Inumaki and picked him up:
Inumaki seemed unhappy by it, bis expression caused you to tap into his mind- find out his thoughts. "Why did he pick me up? Put me down, Yuta. Don't look so happy you jerk! Put! Me! Down! This is humiliating!"Unfortunately for Inumaki, you couldn't hold in your laughter from this whole situation- both the actions and Inumaki's thoughts were too funny to you. Your laugh ended up getting both Inumaki and Okkotsu's attention. Inumaki immediately smiled and blushed at your laughter.
Luckily for him, you weren't focused on hearing his thoughts. 'Y/n's laughing! He laugh always sounds so pretty.... Wait- why is she laughing?'
Okkotsu chuckled, putting Inumaki down. "What's so funny, Sakusa?"
You calmed yourself, attempting to put on a straight face- not that it mattered since your mask covered your mouth. "Please, call me Y/n, Okkotsu."
The boy nodded. "Uh, sure thing, Y/n. But what's so funny?"
"I've never seen anyone pick up Inumaki like that. And you looked so happy and childish when you did it. The whole thing just looked funny to me. I apologize if my laughter upset either of you." You still didn't want Okkotsu to know that you can hear thoughts.
Inumaki, not knowing you had heard his thoughts at the time had seriously began thinking you had been laughing at the situation. That upset him slightly. He sat back down, crossing his arms over his chest with a slight pout spread on his lips. "Tuna mayo." He grumbled.
Okkotsu chuckled awkwardly, knowing his friend was now upset. "You're right, it wasn't that funny. I'm sorry, Toge."
Inumaki looked away, still pouting. "Coe roe." His thoughts echoed into your head. "I wish he didn't pick me up, especially not in front of Y/n."
You felt some sympathy toward the boy. "I'm sorry for laughing, Inumaki. Please don't get upset or be embarrassed by it."
Your words perked him up, he looked at you again and nodded. "Salmon."
Okkotsu chuckled, looking at you. "Looks like you can really understand and handle him, huh?"
You simply shrugged, meeting his gaze. "We've grown close within the time I've been here. I consider him my best friend, aside from my twin brother."
Okkotsu's eyes widened, taking a seat beside you. "You have a twin? Does he go here?"
You shook your head, unbothered that he decided to sit fairly close to you. "He can't use cursed energy. He goes to normal school and plays volleyball with our cousin."
Okkotsu nodded. "Sounds cool. Is he any good at volleyball?"
Your eyes widened. "Yeah. He's a wing spiker and is actually the ace for his team- he's within the top 3 spikers in the entire country. Either 1st or 2nd, I can't really remember his exact ranking, though."
Okkotsu seemed fascinated with this. "So cool! Maybe you could take me to see one of his games sometime?"
Your eyes shined differently, excitement flowed throughout your entire body. "You like volleyball?"
He nodded- both of you forgetting about poor Inumaki. "Yeah, I'd sometimes watch people play back before I started coming here last year."
You were completely into this conversation. "You weren't always involved with sorcery?"
Okkotsu shook his head. "No. Last year, I was brought in because I was cursed by my childhood best friend, Rika. And the higher ups thought it as a threat, they had actually wanted to execute me. But Gojo got them to suspend my execution and I ended up being a student here- in the same year as Toge, Maki, and Panda."
"Wow. I didn't think I'd have things in common with you and Itadori, but here we are. We all used to be normal till Gojo brought us here."
Okkotsu chuckled. "Yeah. Small world, right?"
You hummed, nodding. "Mhm!"
Inumaki grew very unhappy about the lack of your attention. 'I'm still here....'
"Tuna tuna."
