Micheals POV

Waking up to a booming light is never awesome. Opening my eyes actually hurt. I closes them again as fast as possible. Opening them up slowly this time made a difference. Everything was quit bleary, all i saw was this blob moving up and down in front of me.

As i moved a little, i felt the pain shoot through me and a groan came out my mouth. As soon as that happened i saw the blob move closer and i focused more and saw it was my mother.

"Honey! Oh my word! You're ok!" She sounded relieved, but still had some worry in her eyes.

"Mom, where am I?" As i asked the question i looked round and i actually answered my own stupid question. My mom started talking but i wasn't actually listening. I was more focused that i was in a white room, with a small white bed, and in a white robe. I'm in hospital.

Seeing all the nurses walk passed made me wonder what actually put me here.

"Mom, why am i here?" She looked at me and mimicked the confused face i had.

"You actually don't remember?" She had the worry in her eyes. I just shook my head after seeing the sorrow in her eyes made me feel so small inside, i had no voice.

"Sweetie.... You... Were in an accident." She said so slowly, and loving, but there was something that made me think that she new something was wrong but she didn't want to tell me.

"You... Were on the way home from the club, with Jake." We were only seventeen but our moms loved us and knew we never drank, (well that's what they think) so they let us go clubbing.

That's when it hit me. "WHERE'S JAKE?" I choked, with so much force. My mom understood, she loved him to, he was like another son to her, and i am just as close with his mom to, Mrs. Harries.

"Mike.." My mom said with such a sympathetic voice, filled with sorrow, her blue eyes actually started to tear, "... Jake...is in ICU (intensive care unit) ...he is in pretty bad shape hon." She actually started crying.

What had happened? Was it my fault? I know i was driving because i always drive, i have a thing to drive and Jake understood that. "Was it my fault mom? Was i drunk?" The words came out my mouth with so much fear.

"No hun, it was not your fault. You were not drunk, but the truck driver that drove into you was." She was stroking my head to comfort me while she spoke.

That's when a man walked into my room, he was actually very young with shocking blue eyes, with a white coat, obviously being the doctor.

"Mrs. Longgo?" He said with such a stern voice. "Yes?" Mom answered with great fear in her throat you could just hear it. "May i please speak to you outside for a moment please?" I was actually confused, was he not meant to talk about me in front of me?

That's when they both walked out the room and stood right by the window. I could not hear anything but i could see.

The doctor started talking, moving his hand while he did so, like all europeans do. That's when moms hands flew up to her face, covered it while she started crying her eyes out. There is no way to put this but it was bad news, and it was definatly not about me.

They came walking back in once mom regained her composure.

"So... Doc when can i get out of here?" I asked with no intention of hearing the answer unless he tells me i may go now.

"Lets see" he opened his little folder thing and looked at me again, "well everything is going ok, so it will be in two or three days."

That's when i lost it. "It cant be two or three days, it needs to be now! I want to see Jake." I was shouting and the nurses even stared looking into the room.

"Sweetie..?" My mom went off and stopped me, before i could snap again and go off on the doctor. "That's what the doctor and i wanted to talk to you about." She had a worried look in her blood red eyes, from all the crying.

"J... Jake is in...." She stopped and tears started falling again, and my stomach went into a knot, "jake is in a coma." As she said this she dropped her head into the side of the bed beside me, her shoulders shacking as she cried.

"You may go and see him today if you like, but i don't think it's a good idea." I even forgot the doctor was there only when he spoke did i realize. I was crying my eyes out at this point, is he ever going to wake up?

"I need to see him today, no matter what anyone says." I spat at the doctor. "Where is Mrs. Harries?" I asked my mom. "She's with Jake if you want me to call her?"

"No that's ok, i will see her, when i go and see Jake." My eyes are burning from the crying, but i don't know why.

On the way to see Jake i passed many wards, never knew there were so many sick people. I carried on walking, i saw the ICU and before i walked in i took a deep breath of air. Moving through the aisle, passing all the sick people, i could not believe how lucky i was to not be in here.

I came to a stand still as i saw a small woman pacing up and down at the end of the corridor. When i took a closer look i saw her small body her long brown hair and sparkly brown eyes, it was Mrs. Harries, Jakes mom. I saw the worry in her eyes and i felt my heart drop to the floor, Jake was more than a best friend to me, he was like my brother.

Mrs. Harries saw me and she ran up to me and gave me a huge hug squeezing me, i groaned a little from the pain, but she never loosened, i never expected her to.

"I'm so sorry." The words came out my mouth with so much pain. She let go of the hug and looked straight into my eyes.

"Sweetheart, it was not your fault." She said with so much love that i felt bad that Jake had go through this.

"I understand, but i should be me though, i was driving." She took a step back and took in my words.

"No, the man that was drunk should be here, but he is at home, drinking more f*cken booze!" She said with so much anger.

I took her into another hug not really knowing what to say. As i was standing giving Mrs. Harries a hug i tried to see Jake, but a curtain was pulled half way blocking him from my view.

I pulled away form the hug starting to move forward, forgetting my drip it kind of pulled, and i grabbed the pole and dragged it with me.

Walking to the curtain, not knowing what to expect, i stopped right in front of the curtain and took another deep breath. I took my hand a pulled the curtain to the side.

Seeing Jake so pale, his face all scared up with a broken arm, and a bandage over his head. And the worst thing is that, that was not the scariest thing, the machine that was helping him breath that was in his mouth was.

Hearing the sound of the heart monitor insigne with my heartbeat which started to race, made me feel so helpless, and made me feel so alone.

My best friend is in a bed, in front of me and he can't even function to breath on his own. My eyes started to tear once again.

"Hay... B..bud it's me Mike, don't worry, I'm here for you no matter what." I told him with no care in the world if he could hear me or not.
