Chapter 17: Web of Lies And Redemption

"So Venom," Eddie said while walking down the street, "Where would I find Peter Parker?" He had never been to his house and does not know his habits.

"He's with Gwen," Venom said, "They should be walking through Midtown together."

"Alright big guy," Eddie said, "We will kill Spider-Man, but don't touch Gwen."

Venom nods, as Eddie walks through town. It takes time but he finds Gwen  and Peter just walking through the city. Eddie approaches Peter Parker and extends his hands.

"Hello Peter," Eddie said getting too close to comfort to Peter.

"HI Eddie," Peter said before getting uncomfortable, "Why are you getting so close?"

The symbiote covers Eddie, as Eddie/Venom grabs Peter by the throat and lifts him in the air. Venom gives a toothy smile.

"Hello Peter Parker, remember us," Venom roared slamming Peter into the side of a car in the parking lot, "You rejected us and ruined our lives. Now we are Venom!"

"Eddie," Peter said strained, "This isn't you. I-I didn't mean to ruin your life Eddie. I didn't know your guy wasn't the Sin Eater."

"Doesn't matter, we don't care," Venom roared, "We're going to kill you."  Venom pulls Peter towards it's gaping maw, but before it could do something, it's struck with a heavy men at work sign.

Venom turns dropping Peter turning to see Gwen, still holding the sign. 

"Gwen," Venom growled, Peter takes the oppurtunity to slip on the costume and web slings over Venom standing in front of the symbiote.

"Venom," Spider-Man said, "Your fight isn't with her it's with me." He tries to punch Venom, but it does not do much. Venom roars and punches Spider-Man sending him flying into a street sign bending it. Venom standing in the street gets the ire of a cab driver who honks at the Alien. Venom roars lifting the cab and throwing it at Spider-Man with driver and passenger in hand, Spider-Man leaps above the vehicle doing a flip in midair and tries to web it down, but it hits the ground first on it's back. Spider-Man glares at Eddie.

"Come on Venom they did nothing to you," Spider-Man said before Venom grabs him by the head and flings him into a skyscraper shattering the glass.

Civilians run away screaming from the office. Spider-Man rises and reaches out to them.

"It's okay everybody I got this handled," Spider-Man said.

The glass shatters as Venom leaps into the room and lunges for Spider-Man. Peter wonders why isn't his Spidey sense going off. Spider-Man turns around slowly.

"Crap," Spider-Man curses as Venom lunges for a tackle, Spider-Man swings between Venom's legs.

"Spider-Man," Gwen speaks through the communicator, "I'm okay. What about you?"

"I'm fine," Spider-Man said snarkily, "I'm having the time of my life as my old friend on alien roids is trying to kill me."

"I know your life's in danger but don't take that tone with me Peter," Gwen scolded, "But you got rid of the alien, so you must know how to stop it. I called Harry, he said he's coming."

"Alright," Peter said as He tries to web the ceiling lights and pulls them onto Venom's head. Venom is dazed and stumbles around like the Lizard allowing Spider-Man to try to vanish, but Venom grabs Spider-Man's leg.

"Oh boy," Spider-Man said having serious Rhino flashbacks, as Venom throws Spider-Man into a row of computers, he shatters the screens and knocks over mugs and cups of office utensils. Spider-Man gets up quickly and tries to use a web to throw a monitor into Venom, but the symbiote enhanced reporter shrugs through it.
