Chapter 7: A Present

*3:30 PM, 4/1*

A warm spring day after OC's second day of school, he goes out and enjoys the fresh air. OC was meant to go back to the Estate and micro-manage the landscaping team but evaded it under the reason of "someone calling him in for a checkup."

In reality, OC had merrily made his way to the shopping mall to purchase a gift for a certain someone.

"If I remember correctly," OC looks around carefully at the several stores within the large mall, "The jewelry store should be around here."

He enters the shop, ignoring the eyes of several ladies checking him out. He runs his fingers through his silvery-white hair and directs himself to the earrings section. His eyes trail down to ones he thought would look nicest, and before he can make his purchase, a woman approaches him.

"You look like a fine high schooler, perhaps the same age as my daughter—?"

"I'm not interested," OC blankly states without even looking in her direction. He finally walks up to the counter, signaling the cashier of his selection.

The cashier looks at him with raised eyebrows.

"So who's the lucky girl?" she asks, carefully bagging the earrings after he'd paid for it. He simply winks and puts a finger to his lips in a shushing motion.

After exiting the store, he looks around for anything else he thought he needed to buy, but convinces himself he'd come by another day for everything else.

On his way home in a taxi car, he admires the earrings he'd purchased. Shifting them side to side in the sunlight, the pair of diamonds sparkle brightly. OC smiles proudly.

OC pulls out his phone to take a picture, however his notifications catch his eye.

*BANK: Your transaction came out to ¥4,000,000*

*S. Kocho: Sent a Photo.*

*S. Kocho: What in the everloving FUCK is this?!*

'Shinobu is going to kill me.'

He ignores the messages and proceeds to take some pictures of the earrings.

Loud music disrupts his train of thought and he looks out of his window to see a small festival. He realizes there's a flyer for the festival tucked into the passenger's seat in front of him. Taking it out, he reads,

'Join us for the annual Spring Festival on April 2nd from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM!'

He chuckles a bit, sighing shakily in anticipation.

When he gets back to the Estate, he realizes Kaguya and Hayasaka have already made it back as well. They welcome him back, and OC quickly heads to his room to hide his gift.

By the end of the day, he remembers to message Shinobu back. He hesitates to respond, laughing nervously.

*OC: April Fool's...?*

*S. Kocho: I'm gonna fucking kill you.*
