CHAPTER 29: DREAM
ERIS' POV
For a moment my lids felt heavy and they fluttered close. It was like I was in a cloud as splashes of colors danced around me. I am aware that I'm dreaming and yet I can hear a quiet voice near me. It was so quiet that I can't even make sense of the words being uttered.
Everything lasted for just a split second and the dream was so short. I wanted to sleep more but I was being pulled away from the rainbow and the fluff of clouds. When my eyes opened again the world looks different. Like it's the first time that I really felt what it's like to see.
Maybe the dream was a blessing. It opened my eyes more than just the act of doing it. It also opened my consciousness and the way I should see the world. Because this new world seems bright and colorful.
"I..."
Nag-angat ng tingin si Dr. Barquillos mula sa ginagawa niya na pagtanggal ng gwantes. "Yes?"
Pilit na inalala ko kung bakit kaharap ko siya ngayon at kung bakit ako nandito. Ano nga bang gagawin ko ngayong araw? Bakit ako natulog dito?
"Do you feel any pain?" he asked.
Right. It's the day of my wisdom teeth surgery. Dalawa ang tatanggalin niya dahil iyong dalawa sa itaas ay tumubo naman ng maayos. "No? Uminom po ako ng pain reliever like you instructed me. Kailan po tayo magsisimula?" Ako lang ba o parang may mali sa tunog ng pagsasalita ko? I sounded like I have a lisp.
Tinanggal ng dentista ang mask na suot niya. "We're already done. I'll give you a checklist of what to do and what you shouldn't later."
"Done?" Nang tumango siya ay naguguluhang nakatingin pa rin ako sa kaniya. Maybe my sense of time is now moving fast. Maybe this is my new found power. Siguro kasi akong kakapikit ko lang kaya hindi ko alam kung paanong tapos na siya sa pagtanggal ng wisdom teeth ko. "Dr. Barquillos—"
Hindi ko natuloy ang sasabihin ko sana nang mapatawa ang dentista. His smile looks like they are shining. His teeth are so white like pearls.
"It's Barquillan but good job. You only got two consonant wrong."
I smiled at his compliment. "Dentist ka po di ba? Kung dentist ka sinong dentista mo?"
He chuckled again and he told me the name of his own dentist. After that he instructed me to stay where I'm sitting for a moment before he opened the door to call someone from outside.
I was playing with the lamp above my head when I felt someone touch my arm. Muli akong napangiti nang makita ko si Blaze na ngayon ay nakatayo na sa tabi ko.
