Aphrodite was sitting in the car feeling dejected. She had removed Juno from the picture so why hadn't Clay come running? If he was playing hard to get then she was not impressed.
The woman had decided that if he was not coming to her then she would go to him. Her and Anne-Marie picked up Michelle Morrison the moment she got out of the uber and made her give directions towards Clay's house.
"I don't think they will still be there, Claire and Mark left right away to pick him up."
"That's why we are meeting him outside of Juno's house." Aphrodite answered.
Aphrodite had always seen herself like the Greek Goddess. She remembered once how Juno said she felt like the story of the judgement of Paris really related to their sisterly relationship.
The story began with the wedding of Peleus and Thetis which all the gods had been invited to attend except for Eris, goddess of discord. When Eris came to the festivities anyways she was turned away. In her anger inscribed and rolled a golden apple into the crowd of goddesses addressed "To the Fairest".
There were three goddesses who laid claim to the apple: Aphrodite, Hera and Athena. Zeus was asked to mediate who would get this apple. This was a rough place for Zeus to be in because Aphrodite and Athena are so powerful they will cause issues if they do not receive it, but he also can't discard Hera as a contender as she is his wife.
Juno said that She thought of their dad like Zeus. Aphrodite was Aphrodite, insanely beautiful and deserving of this apple. Hera was Juno, the Greek equivalent of Juno. Athena was never stated to be a specific person.
Instead of deciding he commanded Hermes to lead the three goddesses to Paris of Troy to decide the issue. The three goddesses appear before the prince, each offering him gifts. Athena promised military power and Aphrodite promised love of the most beautiful human woman.
This rang true for Juno because she said she had always felt discarded. There was no way she would be getting picked, she was only there because she had to be as it would be rude to discard her completely.
Anne-Marie was related to Paris in this story. Only wanting to give her love to one, Aphrodite. There was never any competition. It was always going to be Aphrodite for Anne-Marie.
Aphrodite had never really cared for this analogy. She only really liked the ending. Paris chose Aphrodite, swayed by her promise to give him the love of Helene, the most beautiful woman. It did not matter that this sparked the Trojan war, all that mattered was that this story reaffirmed for Aphrodite that she was the most beautiful.
The Greek myths that Juno seemed to think reflected their lives were incredibly stupid in Aphrodites opinion.
Although she supposed that didn't matter because just like Aphrodite in the myths, she was going to get what she wanted. Even though her plans had not worked up until this point.
"So what is your plan here?" Michelle asked from the backseat.
"Well, I tell him that I will save his career by saying that this was all Juno's fault on twitter and in exchange he dates me."
Michelle was convinced that this was a stupid plan but chose not to say anything. She was too far into this scheme to back track now. Michelle also knew that she did not want to face the wrath of Aphrodite if she was to disagree with her.
"He would be an idiot not to agree, dear" Anne-Marie said to her daughter.
It was only upon pulling into the parking lot that Michelle realised how poorly this was going to go for her. Both Claire and Mark were in the parking lot while Clay was walking through the building door. Mark was going to see her and know her involvement.
Backing out was not an option anymore.
"Claire! I've seen you on Juno's instagram, do you know where Clay went?" Aphrodite said cheerily. It seemed she hadn't seen him go inside.
The couple quickly turned to look at Michelle, Aphrodite and Anne-Marie as they left the car. Mark made eye contact with Michelle immediately before she sheepishly looked away.
"Mom?" He questioned.
"We can go over the whole 'your mom helped the enemy' thing later." Anne-Marie stated before Michelle could respond. "We just need to know where Clay went, him and Aphrodite need to discuss details of their future relationship."
"You fucking helped them?" Claire said. "You knew how much pain they were causing all of us and you helped them? I get you don't like me but this is too far."
"Mark. Baby. You have to understand, I just thought this would make you come back to me." Michelle was quick to defend, although it sounded like more of a beg.
"Come back to you?" Mark sounded incredibly angry. "You fucked over my family and closest friends to make me come back? Mom there is --"
Mark was cut off by an agitated Aphrodite. "Like my mom said, you guys can do that later. Where is Clay?"
Both Claire and Mark shared a look before refocusing on Michelle.
"You tried to break me and Mark up for years, consistently made me feel like shit, wore white to my wedding and now this? God Michelle if you are trying to make us cut you out of our lives you are doing a damn great job." Claire stood up for herself.
Before Michelle could even think of a response Aphrodite let out an angry huff. "Fine. I'll go find him myself." She stated before storming inside.
Claire and Mark couldn't even grab her arm before Anne-Marie blocked them and allowed her daughter space to go in and up towards Juno's apartment.
Aphrodite was on a warpath now, and no one was going to stop her.
AN: Finals are kicking my ass but they are almost done!
