Brooklyn Davis was on the run again.
This time it was from the police. She had taken a bottle of vodka and $1,000 from her mom, who was only going to spend it on more drink and drugs. Ofcourse none of the money was hers. It was meant to be hers from her dad's child support but as usual none of it was going to actually be spent on looking after Brooklyn.
While her mum was passed out of the sofa after complaining about how useless her mistake of a daughter was, Brooklyn had stolen the money and the bottle of vodka on top of it. Once her mom finally did wake up she had phoned the police on her and told her cousin to tell her to come home or go to juvie again. Obviously this meant that she couldn't go to her usual places to hang out so she decided to keep a low profile and visit her best-friend Tory.
Tory almost knocked the wind out of her lungs when she met a rather smug looking Brooklyn.
"Hey it's been a while" she said after letting her go.
"Yeah, I heard about that fight you got into in your new school," Brooklyn replied happily, a smirk playing at her lips.
"Oh my god, it was so badass! But that stuck-up little bitch Sam totally deserved it, I mean she kissed my boyfriend when she was dating some other kid," Tory ranted clearly pissed at the whole situation.
"I know how to cheer you up" Brooklyn exclaimed excitedly, produce the bottle of vodka from the depths of her bag. "Stole it off of mum as well as my child support"
"Good for you, I'm guessing she phoned the police?"
"Yeah but juvies like my second home" Brooklyn replied sarcastically, making the now slightly tipsy girls laugh.
That's how they spent their afternoon and most of the evening. Laughing, catching up and ignoring the worries and stress that the world put on them. Around 9 o'clock Brooklyn's cousin joined them with another bottle of vodka as the other two girls had already finished the first one.
However Tory eventually had to go home to take care of her sick mom and put her younger brother to bed, leaving Brooklyn and Kiera to enjoy the starry sky above them as they enjoyed the silence between them. Yet they had to drag themselves up to avoid falling asleep in the middle of the park field.
"I'd say you could crash at mine but mum would phone Rien and the cops would shove you straight into juvie," Kiera stated giving Brooklyn a worried look.
"Don't worry about me I'll be just fineee" she slurred to her cousin. with a final hug goodbye and the promise that she would be fine, Brooklyn left the park debating whether to go into the shop and spend some of the stolen money.
While stood on the roadside she saw a boy around her age, counting out change and a rather drunk Brooklyn decided to approach him. He looked tired and rather dirty with long brown hair and hazel green eyes. She felt drawn to the boy who was undeniably attractive.
"Hey" she said approaching the boy as he turned to look at her confused, "Do you want to go in? I have enough money for both of us" she continued.
"No it's okay I was just leaving" the boy hurriedly replied making the girl pout.
"Please don't! I'm on the run from the cops and I am rather drunk" I rambled hoping that he might understand and not phone them.
"It's ok, so am I" the boy sighed "Have you got anywhere to stay?" he asked the girl in a now gentler tone.
"No" she replied bluntly "but I do have lots of money" she said the smile returning to her face.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of you," he said yet there was the startings of a smile etching it's way onto his face.
"What's your name?" Brooklyn asked the boy who was stood rather a bit taller than her.
"Robby" he replied "Robby Keene. What about you?"
"Brooklyn, Brooklyn Davis" she said. Robby went to hold out his hand for her to shake and instead she decided to hug him. He froze for a second before hugging the drunk girl back. Brooklyn felt safe in his arms and she trusted him. She felt like nothing would hurt her as long as she had Robby's muscular arms around her.
Robby felt that the smaller girl had brought a light into his life. Like a ray of sunshine that he had been given and he made a promise to himself that he would protect that light at all costs.
