September 2020 - east London, England

"Smile!" Katie said to me, taking a video as she came to sit beside me on the coach. We were on our way to east London for the away match against West Ham, our second game of the season. "It's for a TikTok!"

"Exciting." I said smiling, "Let me see." She showed me the TikTok, a half finished vlog of her day.

"Cool, right?" She asked, typing her username in my phone so I could follow her, making me laugh. "Need the followers so." I had my own private TikTok account for friends and family, but was debating posting some publicly, and I knew that Katie would be the best person to film one with, so we did a funny lip syncing one related to football.

Soon we hit the road, the drive only being an hour and a half or so, and we were travelling on the day of the match, meaning that everyone was more focused, and calm you could say, than during a usual coach journey. Leah quietly played some relaxing music on her speaker, sitting beside Katie and I, with Jordan. I wanted to get some rest, so spent most of the time looking out the window, to London passing beneath me.

Half way into the trip, I was startled by a sudden 'no!' coming from the seats next to us. Katie jumped too, both of our attention turning to the arguing couple next to us. When Jordan and Leah noticed that a few others were staring, their voices lowered, but they were still deep in an angry discussion.

"My God, they are always fighting." Katie rolled her eyes, shouting at them, "Try not to scare me next time, I was sleeping!" Both of them ignored her, not really caring what the other's thought, so she sighed, irritated.

"It's kinda sad that they're always fighting though, no?" I asked curiously, a little sceptical on why they would still be in a relationship with all the disagreements they seems to have. Jill had already told me on my first day here about their on and off relationship, and it was clear to witness.

"They're always on the verge of a breakup, but never properly cross the line. Of course I wish for them to both be happy, coming from their friend, but it is a little annoying when they bring everyone else into their fights. Like, I really don't care about who said what, or who didn't. Or at least it has gotten to a point where I don't care, anymore." Katie said, rambling on, making it obvious how her annoyance had developed over a longer period of time.

"It sucks when a relationship isn't working out though, especially when you love the other." I responded, my voice sounding more sentimental than I had intended.

"Sounds like you have experience?" She turned round, seemingly eager to hear about some of my own relationship drama. Katie was full of life, always laughing and making sarcastic jokes, but there was no denying the fact that like Jill, she loved to keep up with the latest gossip.

"Not really actually, I just read too much." I sheepishly responded, thinking about the endless romance novels I had sitting in my bookshelf. "I would be reading now, if I didn't get so carsick."

"You have a girlfriend though, no?" Katie asked again, although her tone sounded confident, as if she knew already. "I think I recall someone telling me, but I can't really remember."

"Yeah I do, you know Kristie Mewis? She's American?"

"Oh! I remember now, I think I've seen a couple of photos of you two." She replied, a wave of understanding flashing over her face.

"Yeah I guess, although we don't tend to post that much."

"I'm sure the fans have caught on." She said, raising her eyebrows, causing me to chuckle yet again.

"Oh yeah definitely. It's funny though, seeing how excited they get from a post from one of us, with each other or of the other."

"You must miss her a lot. My girlfriend, Ruesha, plays for Aston Villa so we still live together, although the commute can be difficult. That's what you do for love though, I guess."
