Chapter 23

[Millie's P.O.V.]

I grabbed my coat and put it on. I slung my bag over my right shoulder before turning off the lights and walking out of the hotel room. I waited for the elevator then fortunately, the doors open just before a minute passes.

I press the close button since no one else needed to ride the elevator. The doors closed and I leaned on the wall behind me.

The doors opened once again and I walked out. I stuffed my hands into the pockets of the coat I was wearing while exiting the hotel. I looked up to the dark sky, the stars and the moon lighting up.

I smiled when my feet dragged me to the bookstore. Missing the place ever so dearly. I walked in and took off my coat, since it was pretty cozy inside.

I held my coat in my hand, walking to a particular bookshelf. My fingers brushed each book along the way. Then stopped walking while my eyes searched for the book title.

My eyes stopped once I found what was I looking for. My hand grabbed the book out of it's place and started walking to the same place I sat down before.

I dropped my bag on the floor and sat beside it, making myself comfortable. I opened it to the twenty-seventh chapter. This is a pretty long book, I mean it's probably thicker than Abraham Lincoln's beard.

Maybe not, but you get what I mean.

Then I just realized, this book has about forty plus chapters. Oh well, I'm a pretty fast reader. At least I think I am.

"And everything just went black." I read silently.

Damn shadows.

I just finished reading the last chapter for the book, yes I finished it. But it has a sequel, of course. So, it looks like it'll be a long night.

I stood up, stretching my legs a bit. I have been sitting down on the floor for a very long time now. I felt like my legs just went numb, as in like numb. I could barely feel them.

Once I made sure that no one was in sight, I started kicking in mid-air. Trying to kick as high as I can. I know, weird.

I used to do it when I get into these kind of situations, that happens pretty often. That method really helps though. Learned it from my one and only amazing brother.

After a few kicks, the numbness subsided and I felt normal again. I sighed, walking back to the bookshelf to return the book. I put it back, taking the sequel out next.

The cover wasn't so different. The first one was a picture of a girl, her back facing me with her shadow shown onto the street. Except, her shadow was facing the wrong way.

This cover, was also the same girl. But she was facing me this time, her shadow appearing on the wall behind her. The shadow was still facing the wrong way.

I walked back to my old place, where my bag was. My hand already turning the book open and landing on Chapter 1, not bothering to look up.

Once I felt my feet hit my bag, I turned around and sat down, my back leaning against the wall behind me.

My eyes followed each word I stumbled upon to in the book. My emotions messing up every single time something big happens. Feeling my eyebrows raise every time I'm shocked on what has happened, something I clearly didn't expect.
