I perked my head up and growled at the banging noise. I slowly walked over to the door of the bathroom to find Jack.
"Jack? What are you doing?" I whispered.
"Everyone thinks-" Jack started.
"I know I know, but it's not true. It's just rumors spread by Victoria," I explained trying to be as believable as I could.
"No...Jayce it's okay. I know you're a shapeshifter," Jack said quietly. My heart raced. No he can't know! Nobody can! My mouth opened to say something, but he kept going.
"I'm not who you think I am either Jayce...I can see the future," Jack said. No way! Tommy told us we were the only ones! He has got to be kidding.
"Are you trying to prank me or something?" I said nervously because I didn't smell nervousness on him which meant he couldn't be.
"Why do you think I'm afraid of Paige?" Jack asked. Huh?
"What...do u mean..." I asked back afraid of the answer.
"Paige is going to be evil," Jack said flatly.
"Wait what?! Paige? The sweetest little person ever, cannot be evil," I said trying to convince myself it wasn't true.
"Not yet," Jack said truthfully, "but something causes her to turn on you, Claire, and Kat."
"You don't know how?" I asked wanting him to tell me how to keep her from becoming evil.
"Just... be careful around her. Don't anger her and make sure she's hanging out with the right people." Jack said.
*ding*
The bell for class rang.
"Thank you Jack...for everything, and please don't tell anyone," I whispered while hugging Jack.
"Never," Jack whispered back. My heart melted at this moment, but then again it's Jack. We let go and quickly walked opposite ways to our class like nothing happened. My heart was still beating fast. I was going to have to face these people that might know what I can do. I took a deep breath and entered my class. Everyone was talking to each other yet I still caught their attention. They stared at me as I walked to my seat next to Justin and Matt. The teacher walked in as I sat down and everyone turned away.
"Hey," I heard Matt whisper. I smiled happily on the inside.
"Hey," I whispered back.
"You okay?" Matt asked worried. I got even happier. It's nice to know someone cares about you.
"Mhmm," I said confidently.
"Heyyy," Justin whispered.
"Hiii," I giggled.
"Shush Justin," Mrs. Williams said in between her math talk. Justin put on a pouty face and I rolled my eyes playfully. The class went by quickly. My eyes were roaming around and I noticed someone staring at me the whole time. It was a girl. She looked slightly familiar, probably one of Victoria's snobby friends. I wanted to go all wolfy on her, but obviously, that's a big problem now. The bell rang and I glanced back at the girl. She stopped staring and was now on her phone. Great, what's she going to tell the whole school now. I waited for Matt to get his stuff and we walked to the last class together. Having all my classes with Matt is pretty nice. He can always cheer you up, even if he doesn't mean to. We walked in silence to our class, besides all the talking kids around us.
"Hey," Matt said as I looked at him,"piggy?" I smiled big and nodded. He took off his backpack and I gave him mine. He held both while I jumped on to his back. I fell off. What? He's like a foot taller than me literally. He laughed and bent down a little. I jumped and barely stayed on. He jumped up and caught my legs so I didn't slip. Sometimes I wonder how he holds the bags and me. People were staring but I don't really care. He ran down the hall to our class while I was laughing all happy. We were still laughing when he dropped me down and we recklessly ran into class. Matt made me forget Victoria's in this class. Matt sensed my emotion shift and he wrapping his arm around my shoulders.
"It's fine," He whispered bending down to my ear. He can't whisper to me without it being obvious he's bending so far down. We walked to our seat and Matt sat down. I placed my stuff next to him and was about to sit down when the hag took my seat. I growled quietly and clenched my fist.
"Nice to see you again," I said sarcastically. She smiled innocently but didn't say anything. She just flipped her hair in my face and tried talking to Matt. He smiled politely at her, but I could tell it was fake. Like her.
"This is my seat actually," I said putting my hand on MY desk. She looked up in disgust and rolled her eyes.
"Go away doggy, shoo, shoo!" Her group of friends started giggling and I tried hard to ignore them.
"Now tell me Matt," I said looking at him, "would you rather have me or Bitchtoria sit here?" He stifled a laugh and I held a smirk. Victoria's mouth gaped at my insult and Matt stuttered.
"Jayce to be honest," Matt laughed nervously. Victoria huffed, rolled her eyes, and pretended not to be mad, but it was obvious. She pushed past me to her seat and sat angrily. I sat down satisfied of my win. I sighed in satisfaction loudly and Matt smiled at me.
"Nice," He said quietly looking at the teacher.
"Thanks," I replied. I felt a weird shock tingle through my body. Something was going to happen.
"By the way do you have any classes with the rest of the girls?" I asked Matt. He looked up into his mind and squinted.
"Uh yea I ha-" He started but was cut off by the fire alarm. There it is. I bolted up and everyone in class started talking loudly. The teacher was trying to calm everyone down but Victoria was making such a big deal. Me and Matt grabbed our things and bustled out of the class with everyone else. I turned around to see Matrix walking a few people behind us.
May?
Here
You knew didn't you
Of course, I'm sure Paige too
Door
My mind snapped back to reality and I swiftly turned around the pole in the middle of the door. I let out a breath and thanked Matrix. I continued walking with Matt. I looked around spotting Justin in front of us, and Kat far behind. I didn't see Paige though. When we were far enough from the school we got into lines with our classes. I heard some teachers talking and I started freaking out.
"Paige Winters is missing!" I heard teachers saying that same sentence. Oh shiz. Man she should have seen this coming? Where could she be? I have to do this, if Paige is in trouble I have to help her. The teachers were all crowded around a board with Paige's name not crossed off, so I sprinted for the door to school. I looked back and students were pointing and yelling. I threw open the door and ran in.
"Paige!" I yelled panicking. The school was like a ghost town. Except for the flames coming down the hall. I took the side hall and went into the bathroom.
"Paige?! Are you in here?!" I yelled. My life is at risk and Paige might not even be here! Suddenly the door to a stall opened and Paige walked out.
"Paige!" I yelled my voice cracking. She came up to me and hugged me. I grabbed her arm and we ran out. I opened the door and the flames were getting closer. She wouldn't budge.
"Paige do you not see the fire right freaking there?!" I yelled in frustration. Then, she pulled out a small can of kerosene oil and a lighter.
