Chapter 43 This is family

Jasper's POV

When Clara had screamed, I didn't need to use my gift to figure out that it was pure and utter terror fueling that scream. We all had burst into action at once, and after Clara had been moved to Emmett and Rose's bedroom we began trying to track the sent.

Rensemee came in the room flanked by Jake and instantly she froze, not because it Han been changed, but because of the smell. "Edwin..." She muttered, her hand wrapped around Jake's. He appeared to be looking at her visions, and by the vibe I was getting from Edward, he was watching them too- and he was certainly not liking what he saw.

"What's Jake seeing?" Bella asked Edward quietly, and that's when Renesmee reached out and projected the vision to everyone else. It was the fight that Clara fought, covering Edwin in a mountain of stone. She wasn't trying to kill him, she was only trying to get away safely and perhaps trap him forever. When the vision was done we all exchanged looks, and the search began. Edward, Jake, and I all set out on tacking him. Alice spent time searching for him in the future, Bella at her side trying to help in any way. Carlisle went to make sure Clara wasn't hurt, she already had a concussion, and when we came in she was laying on the ground. Esme was getting a pillow and blanket for Clara to use.

When we got out to track, Jake transformed into the huge wolf and instantly we ran, following the scent that was thickest. We straight for the better part of five miles, quickly taking a sharp right turn. After a few more ridiculous miles, we found a cave, and Edward made us stop. He cued us to turn around, confirming that we had found him, and instantly we broke back out in a full blown run to the house.

Clara's POV

I woke up and mommy and daddy where already gone. I climbed out of the covers and ran down the hall, throwing a wary glance at my bedroom, then continuing my run to the stairs. I reached them and called out, sticking my face between to bars. "Mommy! Daddy!" No answer. "Uncle Eddie!? Auntie Belwa!" Nobody. "Grandma! Grandpa!" Still nothing. "Uncle Jazzy!? Auntie Alwice!" I began to become scared. "Auntie Nessie! Uncle Jake!" The house was silent. I turned around to see my imaginary friend standing there smiling at me. "Cody... Where is everyone?" I started walking down the stairs. I knew it was silly to ask Cody, he never spoke, he just smiled at me. With a sigh and waved bye at Cody, and he disappeared. He could never stay for long, each time I saw him it was shorter. I spun back around and attempted to go a little faster down the stairs, but when I reach the landing and turned to go down the smaller set, my feet slipped on the wood and I tumbled down the stairs.

Instantly I started crying as my arm hurt so extremely bad. I could barely move it, and when it did it felt like fire was going up my arm. I walked toward the kitchen, hoping Grandpa was in there and just didn't hear me calling for him. I didn't see the familiar scene of grandma cooking, mommy and daddy talking about something funny, grandpa reading the newspaper, and Uncle Jake and Auntie Nessie eating. I waited a couple seconds, but Uncle Eddie and Auntie Bella didn't come in through the door.

I ran to the door, opening it with my good hand and arm, and walked to the path that was paved. I looked warily at it and didn't see any of my family. terrified of what's out there I ran back to the house and shut the door behind me.

"Clara!" I woke up to the sound of mommy's voice. "Clara where are you!"

I sat up, wincing as I used my bad arm just barely. "MOMMY!" Tears rolled down my face, the sun was lower in the sky than it had been before. Mommy popped into my view seconds later. "I fell down the stairs." I cried, keeping hold of my arm as she ran over closer.

"Emmet I found her!" Mommy called and looked at my arm. "Carlisle we need you over here!" Soon both daddy and grandpa where there.

"Why did you go outside honey?" Daddy said while grandpa picked up my arm carefully.

"I couldn't find you and I thought the bad man was going to come back." I winced as my arm moved.

"That scary man will never come for you again." Daddy whispered lightly as he picked me up when grandpa put my arm down.

"She broke it." Grandpa said, and I looked at my arm in fear.

"Fix it!" I cried looking at mommy and grandpa. "How do we fix it!" I buried my face in daddy's chest and cried.

---------------------
Ten years later.
---------------------

"WAKE UP CLAR-BAR!" Mom called to me as I groaned and rolled from my bed, landing on the wood floor with a thump and the covers that had entrapped me and accepted me as one of their own fell on top of me. "Come on! You need to get up." Mom's voice was at my door, and I peaked out at her shinning blonde hair. Sometimes I wished I had gotten her golden locks rather than dad's dark brown hair.

"But I don't want too." I complained, while kicking the covers off from my body. "Why is the sun so bright?"

"The sun isn't even shining." Mom shook her head at me.

"Well then." I got up and walked forward. My room had use to be pink and frilly, now it's my favorite colors of pale blue, white, and black.

I walked to my closet and found an outfit that Aunt Alice and mom would definitely approve of. I wore a black tank top blouse that had a ruffled front, a pair of pink skinny jeans, and some tall black strait high heels. I walked to the bathroom at the other end of my closet and began to curl my already curly hair from the crazy waves and twists into perfect spirals.

When I finished my makeup and walked out into the hall and headed straight for the stairs. "When you gonna stop putting that crap on your face!" Uncle Jaz called up to me as I began walking down the stairs.

"Oh ha ha." I rolled my eyes and reached the end table where my bookbag sat. I convinced mom and dad to let me go to school when grandpa finished teaching me fifth grade. "Who is driving me? I have freshman orientation at seven forty five." I looked around and mom just stared at me.

"Your not leaving until you've had breakfast." She scolded me and guided me to the kitchen. Grandma turned around holding a glass bowl of guilt. (A/N just thought I would leave what auto correct thought should be in the bowl. It's actually fruit.)

"Thanks grandma." I said, kissing her on the cheek and sitting down. I ate my breakfast so fast, I didn't even realize I was hungry.

"I'm driving you!" Dad called from the front door. "Don't fall on your way out!"

I rolled my eyes as I got up and slung my pink and black crossbody purse over my shoulder. "Love you mom." I hugged her and walked to the door.

"Don't forget you have piano practice right after school!" Uncle Edward called. He has been teaching me piano since I was ten, for the last five years we have been battling with my pinkies not being able to reach some of the keys when cords are being made. Curse these stub monsters.

"I know!" I yelled back laughing as I exited the door, heading to the red hover car that dad sat in.

When he dropped me off, he handed me my bookbag and gave me a stern look. "Be good, have fun, stay safe."

"Okay dad."

"Have a good day Slip." I never understood why he insisted on calling me Slip, I get that I'm clumsy, but come on!

"I will." I smiled and ran towards the building. I'll have a good day and have some fun, but I won't be good and it may not be safe.
