The green, green grass blew in the wind beneath where a girls long brown hair with lilac streaks  blew in the wind where she sat. She looked at her colouring book briefly before squealing as a football came hurdling her way.

"Sorry sis!" Exclaimed the girl's older brother as she gave him a small glare before breaking it and laughing.

"Be careful Cal!" She yelled. She watched him play as she wore a small smile on her face. It made her day to watch her brother play football.

Suddenly a large white van pulled over across the street. Calum and his sister quickly stood up and watched as a woman with blonde hair started to climb out, next a man with slightly grey hair, next two boys that looked a couple years older to the two siblings watching them and finally a girl with auburn hair who looked about Violet's age come out. The woman quickly hustled them inside of Mrs Wallabanger's old house.

"Huh they took the house thats haunted, nice." Calum commented as he watched the van slowly start to drive off as the family approached the front door. The two were ready to go back to their prior activities, not so interested in the new neighbours when they suddenly heard a loud screaming coming from the blonde woman.

"LUKE! LUKE IS IN THE VAN COME BACK!" She cried as the two kids realised they had left someone named Luke in the moving van.

Without thinking, Calum rushed towards the van as it was driving off slowly, somehow managing to stop in front of it. The driver raised an eyebrow as Calum spotted a blonde haired boy. "Theres a kid in your van mister." He spoke casually as the mans eyes widened and he rushed towards the back.

Not too far behind stood Liz who practically tackled Luke into a hug as she kissed his head. She spotted the boy who had helped Luke out and ran over to him. "Thank you little boy! Whats your name?" Liz asked as she hugged him.

"Calum miss." He replied, voice slightly muffled as she demanded to meet his parents and tell them of the good news. They approached the garden where Violet ran towards her big brother. "Violet calm down I'm ok." Calum laughed as he pulled her into a hug.

"Was worried." She said shyly as she realised they weren't alone. Calum's parents came out at that time surprised to see the family on their front lawn. "Oh Calum what have you down now?" His mum asked as Liz, who introduced herself after she hugged Calum, assured her it was good news.

The two mothers began gossiping about the dos and don'ts of the neighbourhood as Calum approached Luke. "Thanks for saving me back there." Luke spoke with a wide smile. Calum laughed as he kicked his football subconsciously, drawing Luke's eyes to it.

"You play?" Luke asked as Calum scoffed.

"I'm a pro." He replied as they soon began kicking the ball back and fourth. Violet stood unsure of what to do when a girl suddenly approached her. "Hi I'm Autumn, you seem nice and my brother is playing football right now so I'm gonna stand here." The nine year old shocked Violet but nevertheless they introduced each other and soon enough they were laughing their heads off with each other.

"I should go check on my sister." Luke and Calum said at the same time as they looked up from the football. "Mines a year younger." Luke said.

"Same. shes nine." Calum said as Luke nodded his head.

"Same." The two boys approached the girls as Luke leaned down next to Autumn.

"You having fun Aut?" He asked as she looked at him and smiled.

"Luke meet my new best friend Violet." Luke looked at the shy girl next to Autumn and held his hand out.

"Hi I'm Luke." Violet turned to him and her eyes widened. She had never seen such a pretty boy in all her nine years of living. She quickly shook his hand and let out a weak smile as Calum shook hands with a jittery Autumn.

As Calum and Luke walked back, Calum chuckled. "Violet totally has a crush on you." He spoke as Luke just laughed.

"She just met me. But shes a cute kid. She doesn't sound aussie though." Calum nodded his head.

"Shes not. Shes from England. My parents adopted her." He explained as Luke just nodded his head. He wasn't too clear on the idea of adoption but he didn't want to pry.

"I have a good feeling about this summer Luke" Calum announced as he looked over at his new friend.

"As do I Calum" Luke agreed and boy they couldn't have been more right.
