"Why did you help again, Lethe? I feel like... you should have been with everyone else." Hertha asked respectfully. She smiled at the girl calmly.
"You two are cute! And no one else was doing anything fun. Sorry if I ruined the date." Lethe teased while Hertha rolled her eyes. Ranboo had gone up ahead and using the old pocket watch, checked the time.
"Hertha, I have to go." Ranboo called, Hertha suddenly remembered that Ranboo was in fact a guest. She jogged over to him and looked at him sadly, her whole mood destroyed with five simple words. "I gotta get to the dock... sorry... that we have to cut short. I know it sucks." He sighed and took her hand. And so, the day felt dull and cold. The group of villagers with them all watched as Ranboo hugged Hertha. The boys were overjoyed, the monster boy who had roped all the villagers's hearts was leaving. At last the attention would no longer be on him. The girls however, were disappointed. Such a cute boy was leaving. But all could mutually feel both the pity and guilty joy that was separating Hertha and Ranboo, for their own selfish reasons. They all watched with the same pity and guilty pleasure as Ranboo sighed and hugged her, then felt the surprise that was watching them both disappear from their view, all that was left were a few purple particles.
Hertha and Ranboo appeared at the docks, where a ship was waiting, one with white sails and a purple flag on top. Hertha didn't go to the beach often, she wasn't too interested in the ocean water and the sand. But she did appreciate the good craftsmanship that came behind a ship. She hadn't seen one so big in a while. The only other one she could remember was the one her father sailed off in. Hertha kept a hold of Ranboo and looked at what was going to take him away, her day was ruined and what hurt more was that she wasn't sure why, "is it bad that I think... this blows?" She asked and looked at the necklace she just got, "I wanted to be your friend and now you're leaving. That just... stings." She sighed and looked up at Ranboo. He looked disappointed as well.
"Yeah... I guess it does absolutely suck." He groaned and crouched to her level, "we became great friends on short notice. I like you, Hertha. I'll come and visit." He smiled and stuck up his hand. She took it into her own and pulled it close to her cheek.
"I'll come to visit soon enough. I think Princess Venus and Emperor Technoblade will help... he offered." Hertha sighed and pulled Ranboo into a hug. "This is so dumb. I shouldn't feel this sad. Let's be honest, I shouldn't be so distressed. But I will be sad, and I will miss you." She confessed and rubbed her head into his shoulder. He hugged her back and squeezed her.
"Be with you soon." He chuckled and let go, going up onto the ship and waving as he left the port. Hertha watched him go until he was a mere dot in the distance. Only then did she acknowledge the presence behind her. She wasn't sure how long they had been there, but they were there. She turned around and saw nothing, swallowing her fears for something. She continued to go forward, walking off of the docks. Even with all of the people around bustling for the next ship and the ship after, she still felt at danger.
"Ranboo. Right?" "Pascal" asked, letting a new sort of distaste run through Hertha's nervous system. "That's a halfling alright. Why lie about it?" The voice wasn't coming from behind or in front of her. It was panning around her, left to right. It revolved around her. "You seem pretty fond of him." The voice whistled coolly.
"Y-You're right Dave. My bad. I felt a little embarrassed. I thought you guys would hate him." Hertha responded shyly. She didn't know a person named Dave.
"Dave? I'm Pascal." They corrected her. It caused some problems, considering she wanted to catch him out for lying about his identity. He seemed pretty set on Pascal.
"My bad. My head's not in it..." she let the voice travel around her as she kept her head down and closed her eyes.
"Is it because you like Ranboo? Gonna miss him?" He asked while she walked away. She didn't respond, only continued walking with staggered movement. "He'll miss you too, Hertha. He'll really miss you too." He trailed off. She travelled not too far from the docks before she felt the need to start running. So she did, hoping that running aimlessly would save her somehow.
