Questions and Permission

We parked the rental car in my parents driveway and we all got out of the car. Chase rushed up to the door and Chris waited for me and took my hand.

"Come on I wasn't this nervous meeting your mom." I said with a laugh.

"Right because you didn't run away to her when I disappeared on you." Chris said and I sighed. I turned him to look at me.

"Chase, head inside." I said and he did. I looked at Chris.

"Hey, they know shit happened and they know I forgave you. They may ask you about it and just want to know why you disappeared or they may not even care and just ask about you and get to know you. They will want to know the man who was able to make their daughter believe in love again. Chris you are an amazing man and just announced on Jimmy Fallon you were in love with me. I think they are going to be okay with you." I said. I smiled at Chris and he leaned down and placed his forehead on mine closing his eyes.

"I love you so much Sky and I'm still sorry for when I didn't answer you." Chris said and I shook my head and pulled his head from mine.

"You were scared because of my past. We are past that Chris." I said cupping his face. I pulled him down to me and gave me a small kiss.

"You going to come in our keep giving our neighbors a show." I heard my dad's voice asked from the front door with a laugh as Chris and I broke apart. I looked at my dad and laughed.

"I like giving them a show personally." I said and Ryan laughed as we walked up the front steps and to the front door. I hugged my dad when I let go of Chris's hand.

"Dad, this is Chris. Chris, this is my dad Ryan." I said and they shook hands.

"Young man." Ryan said and I shook my head.

"Dad...play nice." I said and he laughed.

"Come on in guys." Ryan said and I took Chris's hand and I smiled seeing Chase help my mom set the table.

"Mom..." I said and she came walking from the kitchen wiping her hands on her apron.

"Oh you finally came inside." Lanie said and I shook my head and Chris chuckled.

"Mom, this is Chris. Chris, this is my mom Lanie." I said, she came and hugged Chris and then hugged me and kissed my cheek.

"You put Chase to work?" I asked and she smiled.

"He was ready to eat. Do you feed your child in Boston?" Lanie asked with a laugh.

"He eats me out of house and home! Chris's house too!" I said and Chris nodded.

"I am going to go wash up, you want to wash up?" I asked Chris and he nodded. He followed me to the downstairs half bathroom and we both walked in barely fitting and I shut the door.

"You okay?" I asked Chris and he nodded. I laughed and I sat on the sink counter and pulled Chris to me between my legs and he smiled.

"I need you to calm down. They don't bite, they wont bite. They worse they could do is ask about your dating history or about why I ended up in new York. Or even worse, what you love about me." I said and Chris laughed and placed his hand on either side on me on the counter and leaned down and kissed me.

"I cant tell them that I love kissing you, can I?" Chris asked as we broke a part and I shook my head.

"I wouldn't." I said.

"Okay well I guess I can think of something." Chris said and I laughed pushing him away from me and got to washing my hands as Chris reached around me and did the same. Once we dried our hands we headed back into the dinning room and sat down.

"So should we do questions over food?" Ryan asked and I sighed. Chris nodded. I sighed and I felt him place a hand on my leg under the table.

"Okay so I just need to know one thing..." Ryan said.

"Go ahead." Chris said as I dished out food on my plate.

"Do you regret dating our daughter? I mean you wouldn't answer her after those pictures went viral. She ran to us upset. So do you regret being with her?" Ryan asked and I sighed.

"Dad..." I groaned and Chris shook his head.

"It's okay Sky..." Chris said and I sighed.

"Sir, what I would like you to understand is when those pictures came out of Skylar and I, I got scared. I knew her past and what they had both been through and I got scared for her. I know I went about it completely wrong and I never should have ignored her and just talked to her but I was an idiot and didn't think. It still amazes me she gave me another chance but I love your daughter and I can't imagine my life without her in, Chase either." Chris said and I smiled at Chris and then looked at my dad. He was smiling at Chris and then looked at me.

"You hooked a good one." Ryan said and I smiled.

"I really did." I said.

"And Chris?" Ryan said.

"Yeah?" Chris asked.

"Call me Ryan." He said and I smiled and slightly relaxed. We all went about eating and were just talking.

After dinner Chase and I offered to do dishes for my parents while they all went into the living room to talk.

"It's been so nice meeting you Chris, you really are amazing with Sky and Chase. We haven't seen them this happy since before Wade." Lanie said and Chris sighed.

"I wanted to talk to you guys about something and I know you might think it's soon but..." Chris said and pulled a ring box from his pocket to reveal and emerald cut center stone with baguettes on each side and they smiled at each other.

"I love your daughter so much and I know it hasn't been long since Wade died and I'm not saying I'm proposing tomorrow but I would love to so it soon." Chris said and Lanie placed a hand over Ryan's in his lap.

"Chris, we love that you love Skylar and Chase and we love that you want to take this step with her. We loved Wade and we still think about him a lot. We are happy you and Skylar found each other and we would be more that happy to welcome you into our family." Ryan said and Chris smiled. Ryan stood up so did Chris and they hugged and then Chris hugged Lanie.

"Let me see that ring again." Lanie said and Chris laughed and handed her the box. She smiled.

"It's gorgeous Chris, she will love it." Lanie said as passed it to Ryan. They heard the water shut off in the kitchen and they quickly gave Chris the ring back and he smiled putting it in his pocket and they quickly sat down. I walked in the living room with Chase.

"So what did you guys talk about while I was gone?" I questioned.

"Our favorite subject, you." Chris said and kissed the side of my head as I sat next to him.

"Hey, you should go get the bags from the car." I said to Chase and he got up and Chris got up with him.

"I am so happy you guys are staying here tonight." Lanie said and I smiled at my mom.

"Oh yeah my boyfriend staying in my childhood room with me...great." I said and they laughed.

"It will be fine." Chris said and walked out with Chase to get the bags. I looked at Lanie and Ryan who were smiling at me.

"What?" I asked and they shook their heads.

"We just like seeing you smile again and be happy." Ryan said and I smiled.

"I am happy. I'm very happy." I said and we all smiled.
