Ayato and Ayaka aren't as close anymore from when they were kids.
When they were younger they did everything together, and I mean everything. They would eat together, go outside and see the town together, play multiple games; they were basically glued together. However, once Ayato got busy they couldn't do anything together really.
They became distant and closed off from each other. Ayaka's new best friend was Thoma and Ayato was just..barely home.
However, one thing that never left was their sibling signals. One look, point, or gesture and the other immediately knows what's going on. For example, ayato knows when Ayaka wants tea when she's sick by seeing her glance at the stove then him. He knows when she's hungry even though she says she's not by the way she rubs her arm when talking. And Ayaka knows when ayato is tired even when he looks so alive and awake by his word choice, she knows when he's bored or uninterested even though his acting is so good by the way he bites his lip occasionally and tap his foot.
Despite the distance they have, these siblings will always keep their relationship alive. One signal at a time.
