Maki's Pov.

These kids, may just be the death of me. Sure you may think 'oh Maki there just kids they can't be that bad' well you've never had a younger sibling if your thinking that. If you have had a younger sibling imagine that, but x24 other kids. Being one of the oldest I'm left to help take care of the kids along with the actual caregivers except they sometimes just aren't here. They claim there working around the orphanage but that's a ton of bull crap.I mean sometimes I do see them actually working but most the times there just reading or taking a nap at 2 pm. It's not like the caretaker was burnt out either she's literally the laziest one there. Honestly how did she even get a job here?

I hear the kids go mostly quiet and I know what that means, a caretaker walked in and I looked over at the doorframe.

There stood Veronica, the caregiver. And what I assume is a new kid, he looks maybe 6 or 7. "Kids this is Kokichi Ouma, he's 7 and his mom died on overdose just recently. Behave" and she left leaving Kokichi just standing there. He didn't seem scared or confused just there.

I went over to the kid as the others continued playing and I slouched down a bit resting my hands on my legs for support. "hey kid, Im-" I was about to introduce myself but got interrupted "Didn't you hear the lady? My name is Kokichi. Try again." He had his arms crossed looking up at me. Well wasn't he just a way of sunshine. I sigh, "Hey Kokichi, I'm Maki  Harukawa. Mrs. Veronica explained how your mom died, what about your dad?"

The little kid shrugged "I don't know I think Jennifer had something to do with it." Jennifer? "Who's Jennifer?" I ask, confused. "My bitchy mom" DAMN this kid is.. something. "We're not allowed to say words like that here" he scoffed "You're not the boss of me" Alright kid want to play this game? "I'm one of the oldest, whatever I say to the caregiver they'll believe." I saw him tense up a bit and look away.

Finally. "Why don't you go play with the other kids?" He shook his head "I don't feel like it" I look at him for a moment and sighed. "Well you can't just do nothing" he looked back at me "Why not?" He asked "Because then it's harder for us to look after you guys" he looked around "Us?" Guessing he didn't see any adults "Me and Akira, we're the oldest" he snickered a bit "Wow only two of you? Guessing no one wanted you huh?" What. In. The. World.

I just stood there kinda dumbfounded. This kid was 7. 7! Alright changing the subject "That doesn't matter, but yes it's only us two" he looked at me for a moment "Why is your hair so long? Do they not cut it?" And he grabbed my hair not pulling it but holding it. I didn't like touchy stuff that much "I like my hair long, keep your greasy hands off it" taking it back.

"Your no fun! And my hands aren't greasy!" Feeling his hands. I roll my eyes "Dinner will start soon, make sure to get in line behind that kid" and I pointed to a kid with dark red hair "Why that kid?" He asked "Because we like up in Alphabetical order and your name is Kokichi right?" He shook his head "Nah they got my name wrong, my name is actually Izumaru Hioda." I was confused to say the least "Wait what?" He snickered a bit "That was a lie! Yea my name is Kokichi" oh boy this was gonna be tough.

I was just eating my food when Kokichi went over to me and sat down beside me. I barely acknowledged him but i noticed he was staring at my plate. Suspicious, I move my plate away from him a bit "Oh come on just give me a little!" I shake my head "No you should've eaten your food" I still had a good portion of my food left "I did!" I look at him "Are you lying? There's no way you are all that food already" and just like that he pulled out his plate which was licked clean, not even a crumb.

I look at him and sigh "Fine but don't expect me to do this next time" I see him perk up as I give him my biscuit and he starts eating it. I couldve sworn he didn't chew as it was gone in 5 seconds like it was never there. He just sat there and looked at me and was about to say something but I cut him off "No that was it" he scoffed "I was gonna say thank you" I knew that was a lie "Your lying" so which he giggled "You're right, I totally was! Nothing gets past you" I sigh and just continued eating

"If your done eating go wash your hands and go to the rooms and get ready for bed" he doesn't move "I don't know where the rooms are though" that's a lie "Did you get a tour of the place when you first came here?" That's what they do with all the kids, but he shook his head. Another lie "Liar, I know you did" e sighed in annoyance "Fine! Man your good at this, I'll just wait for you though" but like, "why?" He smiled "Because your like the big sister I never had! It's cool" oh boy. This was gonna be a journey.
