I'm a master at ignoring people. Still considered new at the company despite having worked for a few years, just because I'm young. Typical behavior.

One of the things I disliked working at Taylor Industries is the variety of people and the different ways you had to deal with the lot of them. I choose ignore.

A couple of weeks later, Oliver told me he's got a project for me. It's the one he mentioned previously, for Axel Evans of AES Constructions. The company wants AES to construct a building for a new branch office. AES is your go-to for quality structures. They're not greedy for expansion, though. They keep their size manageable. They pick their projects really strictly. Though a lot of people and companies want them, they don't bow down. They don't change their ways to snap them up. No. It's kind of good to create genuine scarcity. They get projects lined up for years.

When I met Mr. Evans, he seemed like a fine gentleman. I guess that's true about business only. When the meeting was over, I saw him flirting with a woman. I shook my head.

The project got me wondering, though. He obviously partners with Allen. A lot. They're well-connected. Maybe I could ask Allen about it. I did.

He grinned at me. We were having a weekend date night.

"If you must know, he's my brother. Half-sibling." His answer surprised me. If I recall, he did talk about having brothers when we first met. He didn't mention them by name, though.

"You said brothers before. How many do you have?"

"Just two of them. Alex West is the other, you met him."

They're something, aren't they? I'm sure my eyes widened.

"You guys are highly successful." I sounded a bit envious. It must have shown on my face.

"Don't get intimidated now. It's all thanks to Lee." He stated in all seriousness and I understand him. He did say he wouldn't have been able to do it if it weren't for Lee's support. If only my father could've supported me that way, too. But alas, he only gives me enough to live. His wife wouldn't allow him to spend more than necessary for me.

I kind of envy their relationship, too. I'm glad he has wonderful siblings and they're happy and they're working together. I told him. I didn't realize I might have given him the impression that my situation is the opposite. He noticed, so we shifted the conversation to other things, more mundane.

Working at AES Constructions did help me a lot. I learned more about construction and the marketing style that they have. Their clients respect them. When they make suggestions, they easily convince the other party. It was too amazing to witness. This is the kind of reputation they have in the industry. They're unparalleled. While others try to curry favor to get clients, AES absolutely don't. It's the clients that seek them out.
