He smelled of caramel.

She was reminded of the sweet topping on the ice cream she had shared with Mikasa in Marley, a day before the entire city was bombarded by enemy planes.

She watched with interest as he planted himself in front of her, hands shoved in the pockets, red eyes gleaming in the light of the setting sun as he gave her an appraising look over his sharp nose. For some reason, every feature of the boy, right from his fierce eyes and spiky blond hair to his assertive stance, screamed aggression and bellicosity.

He broke the silence first. "Aren't you the extra who interrupted our training last week? The one with the black lightning?"

"Interrupted?" She raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Sure you aren't looking for the phrase 'saved your asses'"?

"As if," he scoffed. "The other extras might've needed your 'saving' but not me; I would've kicked those villains' butts myself."

"Yeah, mighty good job you had done, sitting in the glass prison and yelling profanities at your captors. I was almost impressed with your limited vocabulary."

"What did you-" He growled, taking a step forward. The veins on his forehead protruded as she raised her hands in defense. The sheet of paper in her hand caught his attention.

"What's that?" He asked, lowering his raised fist.

"Admission form for U.A's Hero course," she hummed. "I was invited by Principal Nezu to attend the school because he was impressed with my skills."

He stared at the form. "What class will you be in?"

"I haven't accepted his offer yet."

That seemed to break him out of his stupor. "Hah? Why the fuck not? What the fuck are you waiting for?"

"That's an interesting response. Aren't you even a bit bothered by it?"

"What?"

She shrugged. "That somebody is encroaching into your world all of a sudden. You and your friends have already spent so many months together and out of nowhere, this new person turns up and seemingly turns your life upside down. Wouldn't that make you feel pissed?" Because it did piss me off to no extent when-

The look on the boy's face made her realize she hadn't completely calmed down from her previous encounters.

She turned around abruptly. "Forget what I said. If Fate allows, we'll see each other again, Bakugou Katsuki." She recognized him of course; her research wasn't completely in vain. "Until then, farewell."

She had reached the school gates when his voice rang again:

"Wait a minute, extra."

She paused but did not turn around. He made a strangled noise of annoyance but continued nonetheless.
