——————Today was Easter Sunday, and I was so excited. My 3 year-old daughter, Lia, was more excited than ever. She got up from her toddler bed and climbed up on me and my husband's bed. Joe and I groaned in unison as the toddler trampled all over our bed.
"Daddy! Mommy! The Easter Bunny came!" Lia yelled, jumping on the bed.
"Are you sure he did? Let's wait 5 more minutes just to make sure." Joe grabbed the blankets and turned to the side, cuddled up with them. I smiled at his antics and sat up in the bed.
"Why don't you sit at the top of the stairs and wait for mommy and daddy. We'll be there in a minute." I spoke to my daughter.
"Ok!" she jumped off the bed, kicking Joe's legs in the process, and ran towards the steps. I turned to face my husband and gripped his shoulder.
"Come on Joe. Wake up." I shook the bigger man.
"No baby. 5 more minutes." Joe whined.
"Come on babe." I shook him harder. He swatted my hand out of the way.
"Joseph Lee Burrow! Get up right now!" I whisper-yelled. Joe rolled over, smirking.
"I like when you use my full name." Joe sat up.
"Omg you freak!" I hit him with a pillow.
"Only for you." he winked and stood up. He grabbed some sweatpants and put them on. He was left without a top.
"Are you gonna put a shirt on?"
"Nope." Joe walked out of the room.
This man.
I got out of bed to see Joe holding our daughter. We all walk downstairs and see a basket the "Easter Bunny" brought for her.
"Mommy! Daddy! The Easter Bunny came!" Lia yelled in excitement as she tore threw her basket. She got a little doll, a bunny plush, and some chocolate. She was so happy with her plush and doll she barely even noticed the candy.
"More for mommy and daddy, hm?" Joe leaned over and whispered in my ear.
"Oh most definitely." I whispered back.
——
"Mommy, how long is Daddy and his friends gonna take?" Lia asked.
"Yeah!" Joe Mixon's daughter, May, said.
"Be patient guys. They'll hide them good for us." Trey Hendrickson's son, Liam, said.
"I just wanna find my eggs and it be over." Tyler Boyd's son, Micah, said.
"Ready!" the dads called out from the front yard. I opened the door for the kids as the rushed out with their baskets.
I walked over to Joe and stood at his side. He grabbed my waist and pulled me close to him.
"Look at her. We made her!" I said in awe while gazing at Lia who found an egg in a bush. She held up the egg in achievement and placed it into her basket.
"You gave birth to her. I just- you know- stuck my d-"
"Joseph Lee Burrow! I know the birds and the bees." I slapped his arm.
"Just making sure." he smiled as I leaned my head on his shoulder.
"Dada! Look at this egg I got!" Lia exclaimed as she held up a medium sized egg. For a 3 year old though, it was pretty big.
"Wow Lia! That's awesome. I'm so proud of you." Joe attacked her face with kisses and she was a giggling mess.
"Now go find some more." Joe encouraged her and she ran towards the yard.
"I love our family." Joe sighed.
"Me too." I kissed his cheek.
