CHAPTER XVII

Irene's POV

"To be honest. I don't understand everything that's happening now." I said just looking down. I refuse to look up, knowing that they're already looking at me. "You talk as if you knew each other for so long already, and surprisingly, it's true. Who would've thought! The person I like is actually close to my family, like really. I mean I should be thankful, right? But why am I jealous?" I chuckled. "I never thought I could say that."

"Joohyun, I never thought you would be the possessive type, that even with your famil--" I cut her off

"It's not that unnie. It's just, I envy your knowledge about Seulgi." I said. I know I shouldn't be talking about this now but...

"Hyun." She called out. I smiled.

"Mianhe, Seulgi. It's just so unfair that my family knows you more than I do. This might come out as me pressuring you to open up with me, but--" I paused when I heard someone stood up and the next thing I know, someone's dragging me already. I just let her.

"What the fuck, Hyun!?" she stopped. I look around and we're already in a parking space. "Look at me!" she held both my arms. I did what I was told.

"I can't be with someone who I barely know, Seulgi." I told her staring straight into her eyes. She was taken aback by that. I felt her loosen her hold.

"We can take things slow, hyun. All of these are happening so fast alre--"

"I thought you are sure about me already?" I asked her.

"I am! But--"

"Of course! There's still something that's holding you back."

"It's not that--"

"Then what is it, Seulgi?!" I asked. She looked hurt now.

"Hyun, you're acting really selfish right now." I look at her shocked at what she said.

"What?!"

"I said you're selfish." Seulgi said.

"Then, I'm so sorry that I'm like this Seulgi. I'm sorry if I can't take the fact that you don't want me to ask things about you and here we are! Having dinner with my family who seemed to know you from the back of their hands. It's just so unfair."

"It's not that I don't want you to ask, Hyun. I-I'm just..."

"Seulgi, I want to be out of here." I said. I know that was random, but people are starting to look at our direction.

She looks around and understood me instantly. She grabbed my hand and we walk to her car. As soon as we entered the car, she buckled the seatbelt for me and starts the engine.

"Seulgi, what are you doing?" I ask as she started to drive.

"You said you want to be out of here?" she said, glancing at my direction. She is not serious, right?

"Seulgi! I just wanted to talk to you in private, because there were people who were listening there already." I said. I really thought we will just stay there and talk in the car.

"I know that." she said.

"Then why don't we just go back there, Seul?" I said to her.

"No, we'll talk first." she said.

"Seulgi, we can talk there. My family is still there! Amy! We can't just leave--" she cut me off

"Well, if only you could've wait and have some patience then we wouldn't be leaving now. Would we?" she said what the?

"Stop this car, Seul." I said. How is us leaving, my fault? She just keeps on driving. "Seulgi!" I shouted this time. I saw her get startled. She then stop the car. I removed the seatbelt and went out of the car.

"Come on! Hyun!" Seulgi grabbed my wrist.

"Seulgi, I need to go back." I said removing her hold.

"Hyun..."

"Seulgi, I'm going crazy already! Just please, please let's just go back. Amy. Amy's still there." I begged. I know it looks like I am just finding a reason for us to go back, which I honestly am. I don't want this arguement to escalate more. I started this and I'm regretting it now. I need to calm myself down before I say anything stupid.

"For fuck's sake! Amethyst is with your family, it's not like they would let anything bad happen to her." she shouted this time. I cannot lie, that really shocked me. "We need to talk! You started this and this is so fucked up!" she said. That's it!

"You know what's fucked up Seulgi? Our relationship! Or what ever that is between us!" I shouted. "I can't believe I fell in love with a person in a short period of time! And you know what's more ridiculous!? It's the fact that this person won't even let me enter her life." I shouted back at her.

"Stop acting like this is some one sided bullshit, Irene!" this time, I know she's in range already.

"Then why won't you let me---" she cut me

"What do you want me to do?!" she raised her voice more. "Tell you the story of my life that involves the past that's been traumatizing me?!"

"I'm not pushing you to tell me all--"

"Then what do you want to know, Irene!?" she is on the verge of having a mental breakdown already. Was I really wrong for asking her this?

"I- I just want to get to know you." I said slowly while stuttering some words.

"Can't you wait?!" she said. She looks so frustrated now. She reach for my hands and from there she looks fragile. How can she suddenly shift into a different emotion, just like that? "I can do that, just not now Hyun. Please."

"Seulgi--"

"Hyun, I want you to wait. I need you to wait. Hyun, I need you." She desperately said. Fuck!

"Seul--"

"You and Amy changed me, in a really good way. I can't go back to where I was before you two came. I really can't."

"Seu--"

"Hyu--"

"For fuck's sake! Let me finish!" I shouted. She pursed her lips holding her cries. Why do I still find her cute in times like this? I grabbed both her cheeks and kissed her forehead. "I'll wait, I promise." I whispered. She then pulled me into a hug.

I shouldn't have pushed her to open up. It was ridiculous that I did that infront of my family, specially my daughter. I know I was wrong for doing that, I was too clouded with jealousy. Yes, I am really jealous. But it was really wrong of me to do such thing. Seulgi is still hurting from her past, that I don't know of. Can I really wait for her? I've got nothing to lose if I would, but I don't really know.
