" now, listen closely a new threat has popped up, we need a new team with the ability to take down a very dangerous criminal," Mike said looking very serious the look kind of looked funny on him. " okay, but what does this have to do with us?" Darius asked with a poker face. " don't think a trainer and two teenagers?" I asked heatedly. " oh wow, you haven't changed one bit," Darius said while shaking his head. " always the pessimist," Mike said looking disappointed. the faith you have in me," Ray said sadly " no offense brother, but you actually have to stay with guys," I said matter of factly making my brother frown. " well no, I was not thinking of that rather, I want to add members to that team," Mike said thoughtfully " though a small team would not be a bad idea," he added as an afterthought . " hey, we can have two teams in one," Darius suggested to which Mike replied by nodding his head while smiling. " so, it's settled then, team 42 will be enlargened," mike said with finality in his voice. " just one little problem........ Liam doesn't want any more additions to his team. he says that if we add any more members, the team will become bulky and he doesn't want that," my brother said glumly. " well then, we only have one option, we will have to put an entirely new team together," Mike said returning to his cheerful self. the rest of us simply rolled our eyes at him. he stood up and asked us to follow him we all followed him to a room that was located deep within the building. the room looked like a training room with exercise mats on the floor and a few boxing gloves in the corner of the room. there was also a boxing ring to the left of the room where two people were sparring and kept getting the upper hand on each other from time to time.
" Ace, how are you?" Mike greeted happily. was he always like this? I'm usually really good at reading people but I just could not wrap my head around him his mood kept changing like a teenage girl. " I'm good how are you?" Ace replied with a booming voice. he jumped out of the way before his sparring partner could land a blow to the side of his face. " very good Ace," his partner said in a gruff voice, the same gruff voice I had heard one month back when the team and I had broken into the warehouse. when his brown eyes landed on me, they widened in shock and recognition. " hey, it's you, Ace said backing away from my direction.
" so the team is going to be comprised of three members........ Tessa, Darius, and Ace, now, no one must know that this elite team exists okay, so none of you is going to breathe a word of this to anyone, not even your parents," we all nodded and walked out of the room leaving my brother, Mike, and, the other guy whose name I was not so sure of. midterms were approaching and the atmosphere in the school seemed to become tenser with every passing day. the gamers stopped being glued to the screens on their phones and the football players stopped being so rowdy. the hallways became quiet and the cheerleaders are the only ones who always seemed to be doing nothing. their high heels and the clicking of their fingernails as they frantically typed on their phones. the nerds seemed to be more intense than usual. the lunchroom was half empty and the students who sat at the tables were either reading while eating or just reading. the school library was full to the brim with students. my teammates and I usually just studied together in the evening together before we went for training. we then decided that we should spend some time together. so on the weekend, we went to the mall. I never really went to the mall myself but in the interest of keeping the team together, I was willing to go to the place where most of the kids from our school spent most of their time. It was almost as if they had nothing else to do. anyway, we went to the arcade and played the shooting games and the other games. after two hours of staring at the screens, we headed to the food court where the three of us ordered hot dogs and pizza. " Mmmmm" I love the smell of pizza." Ace said while rubbing his hands together gleefully. the rest of us ignored him. after our lunch, we went to the abandoned mall which was where the headquarters were and we walked straight to the training area. we began sparring in pairs while the other one sat in the corner scrolling on their phones. I dodged all of Ace's attempts at trying to hit me however I was able to land a bunch of successful punches to his jaw and kicked him in the shins. but when I stood up triumphantly, he had managed to kick my feet from under me and I landed on my butt looking shocked with my eyes wide open. " never celebrate prematurely." he said in a matter of fact tone. in response, I huffed and tried to stand up but he pushed me back onto the ground. in turn, I pushed him back angrily and he landed on his face when he got up he was smiling despite the fact that there was a bruise forming on his left cheek
