A/N: I do not own anybody in this Chapter except Y/n.
Your POV
I breathed in the cool, evening air. I was sitting, leaning on a big and beautiful oak tree. It gave me inspiration. I was currently sketching of what I thought the oak tree looked like. I took the time to gaze upon all its features, and then I started sketching of what I remembered about it.
I looked up from my sketch book to think about other features my sketch could have. Fragile, thin branches... But beautiful, lush and green leaves making up for it. What else?
My gaze travelled over to my left slightly. A girl with short wavy hair, hazel eyes and a nice shade of green glasses was asking a tall man with a huge hat something.
The man shook his head, then turned and nodded in my direction. I squinted my eyes in confusion as the brunette followed the man's line of vision. But I internally shrugged it off and looked back at my sketch.
"Awww... She stopped drawing." I heard a squeaky voice from behind. I slightly jumped, unprepared for someone to sneak up from behind me.
Before I could even turn around, I heard a whole group of voices. "Awwww..." They all groaned in unison.
I looked behind me and my eyes grew wide. Practically every child that lived around this particular corner of the town were staring at me behind the oak tree with curious eyes. How did I not notice them back there?
"What's going on here?" I turned my head again. It was the girl from just now. Was I deaf in one ear? How is it that I didn't hear her coming, either?
"We were all watching her draw this big tree behind us." A little girl with braided pigtails explained.
I looked up at the girl with glasses again. I knew who she was. She was part of a pretty popular family in this town, whose family members were blessed with magical gifts that help the village grow and prosper. I know that she's around my age, and I know that her cousin's gift ceremony was dangerously close, and-
I looked down beside me to a kid with dark skin and short curly hair. And, I know that her cousin is right beside me. He's been coming to watch me sketch for quite a while now, and I realized that he especially enjoyed watching when I sketched an animal. I questioned how I could have missed him sit right beside me and make himself comfortable all while escaping my notice.
The girl looked at me, shifting her green glasses. "Hi," She smiled. 'I haven't seen you around before. I'm Mirabel. Who are you?"
Before I could answer, Antonio got up and walked to Mirabel's side. The other kids noticed this, and took this as their cue to question Mirabel while they still got the chance.
"She was drawing the tree behind us!" One yelled.
"It was really cool!" shouted another.
"Hey! It's you!"
"Can you draw like that?"
"What's your gift?"
"What's his gift?"
"Is he your favourite?"
"What is your favourite gift?"
...It's getting too crowded.
While everybody was crowding around the girl, I silently crept away from the scene.
Mirabel POV
"Uh-well-" I started to say. But one of the kids interrupted me again. "Hey. Where'd she go?" Everyone looked around to where she was last seen but she wasn't there anymore. "Huh. I guess she left."
