The Argument

As I followed Mirabel to her room, I instinctively tuned out her excited phrases and estimates about what the vision said. I had my own things to worry about.

There were simple things like how Mirabel got out of Bruno's room, where Camilo ran off to and why Luisa's gift was failing her.

And then there were the big things like-

WHAT THE HECK?! SINCE WHEN CAN I TILT BUILDINGS?!?!

I tried to keep a neutral expression as I followed Mirabel around the corner.

I barely touched the church when I was comforting Luisa after her breakdown. I remember being so weirded out that I immediately suggested that she go tell her family about what was bothering her.

I just wanted out of that place as soon as possible.

The sneaky, suspicious glances that Camilo gave me, and the all-knowing gaze that Dolores gave me, didn't make the situation any better.

I knew coming to Casita was a bad idea, but Mirabel is just so fun to hang out with that I shook off the thought of the consequences.

I took a deep breath to calm down. The last thing I needed was people to worry about me and then ask me about the matter. I don't need to give them any explanations whatsoever.

"(Y/n)?" I looked up to see Mirabel with another confused look on her face as she stood outside her bedroom door. "What's wrong?"

Great. Just great.

"Nothing's wrong, Mirabel. Just thinking about today's events." I mean, it wasn't a total lie.

Mirabel didn't look completely convinced, but I guess she assumed that I didn't want to talk about whatever was bothering me so she let it go.

"Well in any case, if we're going to find out what the vision shows, we need to do it fast. The Guzman's are already on their way and they'll be here shortly." Mirabel said. I nodded as I followed her into her room.

As she took the pieces out of her Mochila Bag, I dragged them across her dresser as lightly as I could and attempted to put the pieces together. The first three pieces made a butterfly.

"That's what I saw before Tio's Bruno's Vision Cave collapsed." Mirabel pointed out.

A flash of lightning and thunder shook the room. Startled, Mirabel and I turned to see Senora Pepa, standing at her doorway with a frazzled expression on her face. We immediately hid the shards behind our backs.

"Tia, jeez--" Mirabel let out, relieved.

Pepa smiled. "Sorry, sorry. I-I didn't mean to--shoo, shoo!" I watched as she pushed the clouds out of Mirabel's room. "I just wanted to get the last of Tonito's things and then I heard--the name we do not speak."

She looked startled and frustrated when the cloud came back. She started pacing while muttering to herself before taking a deep breath. "Clear skies... clear skies..."

Mirabel looked at me and then at the shards behind our backs. I refrained from touching them in case I shattered the shards by accident. You can never be too careful when you accidentally tilt a building.

"Uh, Tia Pepa... if Bru--um if he had a vision about 'someone', what would it mean for them?" Mirabel asked.

"We don't talk about Bruno." Senora Pepa said, aggressively squeezing the water out of Antonio's damp clothing.

"I know, it's just, hypothetically, if he saw you..."

"Mirabel, please." Pepa retorted. "We need to get ready for the Guzman's."
