"You're pregnant?!" House exclaimed.
"What about my test?" I asked.
"Negative," Cameron said softly.
Chase saw us all talking and holding the pregnancy test and he ran towards us.
"Was I right?" he grabbed the test out of my hand.
"Not exactly," I said, "That's Cameron's. I just have a hangover."
Chase's face went completely pale, "You're pregnant?"
She sighed and looked at the floor, "Yeah."
"Who's is it?" House asked.
"Who's do you think, dumbass?!" I said, gesturing towards Chase.
Cameron looked up at Chase and nodded. He nodded back.
"It's mine," he said.
House and I gasped, although we weren't hugely surprised that they'd slept together.
Chase smiled, "How wonderful is this?"
"We'll, congrats, guys!" I smiled.
"Awh, how nice," House grumbled, "Anyway, we have to crash a whole proposal. How do we do that?"
"What are you talking about?" I said.
"Obviously we're going to stop this before Wilson makes a stupid huge mistake," House explain as though I should've known this already, "He's not happy with her. He's happy with you."
Chase and Cameron agreed.
"He loves you, Claire," Cameron said, "I can guarantee you that."
"Fine," I said, a little begrudgingly "Let's make a plan."
House told us that James and Amber were going to this fancy restaurant uptown tonight. House also managed to get all the details we needed about the proposal itself.
They were going at 7:30 and Wilson was going to pop the question at 8.
We got some nice outfits and booked a table for ourselves for 7:30.
I put on one of Cameron's sleek red dresses and some heels. My stomach still hurt from the throwing up.
"Are we sure about this?" I said, leaving my office with Cameron.
She looked stunning in a long, black strapless dress.
"We're sure, honey," she patted my shoulder, "Let's do this."
Chase held Cameron's hand and I linked arms with House.
As we walked down the halls, we got multiple compliments from various different people.
Cuddy saw us all and gave House a brief peck on the cheek, "This is stupid, but good luck guys."
We got into our taxi and set off.
I leaned on my stomach ache to try and stifle it.
"Hey," House whispered, seeing my discomfort, "you'll be fine."
We arrived at the restaurant right on time.
I got out of the car and smoothed down my dress.
Chase opened the door and we all filed in.
There was a lot of commotion happening on one side of the room, but we ignored it.
"Probably a football match," said Chase.
We sat at our table and kept an eye out for Amber and James.
My stomach was screaming at me now, but I tried my best to ignore it.
"Hey, Byrne, are you good?" said House, watching me press on my stomach.
"Fine," I groaned.
"You sure?" Chase asked.
"Absolutely," I said, straightening myself up.
As we waited for the time to strike, someone yelled, "SAY YES!" from the other side of the room.
The commotion. Say yes? Yes to what?
I stood up and walked towards all the loudness.
"Byrne where are you going?" Cameron yelled, running after me.
I shoved past some people and low and behold, there they were.
James down on one knee, holding out the ring.
He looked up and saw us.
"Claire-"
"What? What is- huh? I-," I stammered for a few seconds, before the almighty pain in my stomach took one final lurch, and I felt myself collapse. There were a lot of voices over my head.
"Hey?!"
"Ma'am are you alright?"
"BYRNE?!"
"CLAIRE WAKE UP! Oh God please wake up, Claire, it's me, it's James!"
I could see a very blurry outline of James's face.
I felt myself smile, then everything went black.
Voices were still yelling over my head.
"Call 911! Call an ambulance!"
The voices for quieter and quieter. Silence. It was like wind whooshing through my head. Peace.
