Cameron had seen me run into the bathroom and ran after me.
"Jeez, Byrne, are you good?"
"Terrible awful horrendous hangover," I tried to laugh, wiping my chin.
"I can see that," she helped me up.
I walked over to a mirror to try and fix myself up a little.
"Woah, Claire, what happened?" Cameron was inspecting a bruise she'd just found on my neck.
I froze, "Uh... can't say I remember."
"You and Chase didn't-"
"NO God no," I laughed, "Alright, I woke up on Wilson's couch this morning practically on top of him."
Cameron laughed, "Do you think he remembers?"
"I hope the Hell not," I laughed.
But part of me was sort of hoping he did. Maybe I'd been to quick to turn him down.
And every time I saw him with Amber I wanted to throw myself out a window.
I decided to try and find Chase to see if he knows what happened.
"You made out with Wilson in front of Amber," he informed me, casually.
"SHIT."
"I wouldn't worry so much," he said, "Wilson seemed to enjoy it."
"That's not what I'm worried about," I rolled my eyes, "I'm worried about being smote by the evil witch!"
"That's Cutthroat Bitch," Chase corrected, "not evil witch."
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
"It's Wilson," Chase whispered to me, "HIDE."
It was as if he read my mind, not wanting to face the conversation with James.
I quietly stepped into his equipment closet and left the door slightly ajar so that I could hear.
"Hey, man, what's up?" Chase asked.
"Have you seen Claire anywhere?" Wilson said.
"Why?"
"I know what happened last night. I found her sweater on the couch."
I held my breath. He knew. He knew we were together last night.
"Don't you have Amber?" Chase asked.
"I know... it's just..." James sighed, "I really need to talk to Claire. There's something I need to tell her. It's about Amber."
"What is it?" Chase said, "Is she alright?"
"I'm going to propose."
Silence. Deafening silence. I could hear my heart slamming in my eardrums.
Stupid. Stupid Wilson. Stupid me. Of course he's moved on. What kind of idiot holds on to this ridiculous hope?!
"But," Chase began, trying to find the right words, "What about Byrne?"
"I can't have her, Chase," James said, "Isn't she yours anyway? Or so you say."
"You know it's not true?"
"Yeah, I know."
Chase sighed, "Are you sure you want to do this?"
"I need to move on somehow," James said, "She deserves better than me."
He left the room.
Chase opened the closet door to find me standing there with my head in my hands.
He didn't say anything, he just pulled me into a hug.
"Chase?" I said, my head buried in his chest, "Am I an idiot?"
"I hate to break this to you, but yes," Chase smiled.
"Don't be mean," I wiped a tear from my face.
"Don't you realise?!" Chase exclaimed, "You and Wilson are so totally fucking in love and you just won't accept it! I get it, he made mistakes. So did you! And now here you both are, in the exact same place and you're going to let him go off and get married?! If you're giving up on him, you're not the girl I thought you were, Claire."
He was right. He was so absolutely right.
"What am I supposed to do?!" I cried.
"Tell him, stupid!"
My stomach decided that this would be a wonderful time to give an almighty lurch. I gagged and threw up in Chase's trash can.
"WOAH!" he yelled, "Are you alright?"
I wiped my face, "Second time I've thrown up today. Weird."
Chase stared at me for a moment, before saying, "Go down to the clinic and buy a pregnancy test."
"Right, obviously, because realising I'm in love means I'm pregnant," I shook my head.
"Just trust me on this one," he nodded.
I shrugged and went down to the clinic.
Cameron spotted me and ran down towards me, "Hey!"
"Hey, are you bored?" I asked.
"Extremely, why?"
"Wanna do something stupid?"
Cameron and I both bought pregnancy tests and headed into the bathroom.
While we were waiting for the results, I told her everything I'd just heard.
"I swear to God, Wilson thinks wedding rings can cure cancer," she rolled her eyes, "He's been married twice, y'know."
"I'm half convinced he's married to House," I chuckled.
"Hey," Cameron tapped my elbow, "It'll be okay. He loves you, he just needs to see that."
"Byrne are you in here?!" came a tired and gruff sounding voice. House.
"What do you want, Gregory?"
"I need a word with you."
I stepped out of the bathroom, "What's up?"
"I suppose you heard about our newlyweds," he mumbled.
"Yeah, I-"
I was cut off by House pulling me into an awkward hug.
"The hell is this?" I laughed.
"Shush, I'm being comforting," he said, "Tell anyone about this hug and your-"
"I'm dead, got it," I said, savouring the hug, "Thanks."
Cameron suddenly ran out of the bathroom holding one of the tests.
"Claire!" she grabbed my hand and put the test into it.
"Cameron..."
"Claire," she sobbed, "I'm pregnant."
