Part 9

I was walking through the docks looking around for Wheezie when I noticed John B walking from the other direction.

"Oh,hey john B"I greeted 

He walked by ignoring me.

I tilted my head and spun around to catch up to him.

"Thats it?"I asked keeping the same pace as him.

"Someone told your dad about Druthers"He told

"Well it wasn't me"I said

"I know that,but now I'm fired"He complained.

"I'm sure I can convin-"I started

"No Y/n....it doesn't matter"He said before walking away.

"Well it matters to me."

He stopped.

"Just forget about it"He said before walking away.

"Pope"I asked when I saw him wandering around the docks. later that day.

He walked over to the chair I was sitting on.

"John B found something,we gotta go"He said

"Yeah,no"

"What do you mean"He asked

"I think i'll sit this one out"I shrugged

He walked away leaving me there.

About five minuets passed before John B started walking down the docs.

"Uh...Hey,what..what are you doing"He asked before sitting on the end of the lawn chair.

I roled my eyes.

"What does it look like"I asked

"Look,suntaning, or whatever can wait. Y/n were..were about to make history"He told me.

"My dad is gonna kill you if he sees you here"I said

"I-I don't care.Look,I know you were trying to be a good friend, and I know your dad doesnt want me to hang out with you,  but please-"he went on

I stood up,and was about to walk away but he stood up and quickly grabbed my shoulders.

"Look,you are my best friend,and I need you right now.I'm sorry about the kiss thing,that was super weird. I know I made you feel awkward about it,and i'm sorry,but I need you.I am begging you.I'm begging you and I'm begging you I just want to talk-"He said

"Oh my god.Shut up"I said

"What"He asked

"Were good."

"Were good?"He asked

I nodded and held out my hand so we could do our handshake.

"Back in the friend zone"He mumbled

I laughed slightly before walking back in the direction he came in.

We drove around the island for what felt like forever. By the time we were close to where we were going, it was already dark out.

"You mind if I just relax on this one?Its been a long day,and a lot of weird stuff's gone down.I'm just gonna lay low"JJ said from the backseat
"Do you want a hit of this"He asked pushing his joint towards Pope.

"I keep the signal clear"Pope said

"Dude,okay.Do you understand that your problem is that you don't get creative?If you got creative,then--"

"Look,I know I was wrong about the lighthouse, alright? And wrong about everything else going on.But I-I was right about one thing, okay.My dad is trying to tell me something."He said as we pulled into the cemetary

The four of us got out of the van and started wandering around.

"John B what are we doing"I asked

"Shh,you know how you're trying to remember a song, and you can't remember who sings it"He asked

"Yeah"

"So,Redfeild.This whole time I thought it was a place,right.Its not a place."He held his lantern up to a giant stone burial."Its a person."He finished

"Voi-effing lo"JJ said

"See,my great great grand mother.Olivia Refeild.Its her maiden name."He told

We stood around looking at it for a few moments.

"Help me with the door"John B comanded as he walked towards the stone house.

"One two three"The two of them said trying to lift it.
"Are you pushing"Pope asked
"Yeah,I'm pushing"John B replied

JJ walked over to try and help.

"That thing is like 700 hundred pounds,its not gonna budge"I told them

"We didn't come this far to get this far,alright"JJ said

Something started hissing as a snake slithered out from one of the cracks.

"Woah,woah,woah.Thats a mockasin.Ye old Dr.Cottonmouth" JJ said before barking at it.

"JJ shut up"I said

"You're gonna wake the dead people"Pope joked

"They're afraid of dogs,everyone knows that-"He looked at the stone grave." wait, hold on"He said

"What"I asked as JJ pulled John B back by his shoulder.

"If there's one,there's probably dozens"

"What"Pope asked

JJ started barking again.

"Stop barking at the snakes"John B told him

"Look John--"Pope started

"Just making sure its clear"JJ said

"Shut up"Pope said to JJ before turning to John B.
"John B, look."

"It's a snake"JJ shrugged

"Were not gonna get in there,alright.It's not gonna budge.We should probably just go"Pope told him

"I can get through"I said looking at the hole located towards the top of the wall.

"What"JJ asked

"No,no,no.You think your gonna fit throigh the hole.That hole"He asked

"Look this is about your dad.You deserve to know the truth.I'll do it"I said walking closer

"Can you help me"I asked no one inparticular

Pope started pulling the roots away from the entrance for me.

"you got it"I asked

He nodded.

"Okay,i'll uh...give you a boost.."JJ said

"Remind me what were looking for again"

"You'll know it when you see it"John B said for the second time today

"Hold my flashlight"I said handing it to him

I stood on JJ's hand and he lifted me up so I could reach the hole.

Once I was inside ,there was total darkness all around me.

"Flashlight"I asked

"Yeah,here"Pope said putting it in the hole

I moved it around looking throughout the stone house.

"You alive, got like a-a heart beat and everything" John B asked

"So far"

"Thats good,thats good."He repeted

"Yep"

The walls were blank;I couldnt seem to find anything out of the ordinary.

"Uh...I need some more light"I said

"Yeah,yeah okay"He handed me his lantern.

I noticed a small hole in one of the walls.

"Did you find something?Is it gold?"JJ asked

"Oh my god"I said to myself
