"Alright, stay here.I'll go talk to the librarian"I said leaving him in the lobby.

"That's a fantastic idea, Val"

The librarian led the two of us into the library.

"You don't know how grateful we are to recieve the Tanny materials from your father."

"Of course"I smiled

"It's right up here"She said pointing at the stair case.

"Thank you"I said walking up the stairs.

John B and the librarian followed me.

When we made it to the top there were two boxes resting on one ot the tables.

"Down the rabbit hole"John B said

"Here we go."

The two of us took the lids off the box infront if us.
We put the gloves on that were inside, and started reading through the papers.

"It says that Denmark used the money he made from Tannyhill to buy the slaves and give them their freedom. It says that he was accused of inciting revolt. This was before the Civil War"I told

"That's why they hanged him."

John B reached inside the box that was sitting infront of me and picked up a thick blue book.

"Thats the bible"I said as I watched him flip through the pages:

"Check this out"He tilted the book towards me.

"These are the birthdays"

"Yeah,Denmark Tanny"He pointed

"Cecelia,Robert,Lewis and Abraham.His three sons"

John B nodded.
"Wait a minute"John B said before picking up another paper from inside the box.

"Is that a picture of--"

"Gold. This is how he bought the island.It-- it's British gold. This was what was on the merchant."John B happily laughed

"Bingo"I laughed

I picked up another paper.

"This is what we found when we first moved in."I said

"Wait,what's that"He asked

"This,is the last correspondence"I replied showing him.

"Wait,thats--thats in Gullah, the lost Creole language"

"Atleast you pick something up in Geography"I laughed remembering the conversation Peterkin and him has just a few weeks prior.

"Can you read it"I asked

He shook his head.

"No,I wish,but no."

I laughed under my breath.

"So,Denmark finds out that the posse's coming for him.Wait, whats the date of the letter"

"It is.."My eyes scaned the paper.
"May 3rd,1844.Wait,that's-"

"The day he died"John B finished

"And this is adressed to Robert."

"So,on the day he dies,he writeds a letter to his son?"He asked
