APRIL 10TH
"Gosh Jo... please wake up." Hope said looking at the unconscious Josie from the glass outside her hospital room.
She's been not responding for the past ten hours and Hope haven't been allowed anywhere near her tests because of the personal rule at the hospital.
Doctors that are too close to a patient could do risky things and mistakes that lives will have to pay for. Her dad would always tell her.
But she trusted her aunt and uncle that took responsibilities over this case, speaking of them.
Keelin and Kol walked towards Hope and what looked like Josie's chart in Kol's hand. "We questioned the other residents if they've seen anything happening to Josie in the past few weeks and they've given us some info that could help us diagnose whatever is happening." Keelin informed Hope.
Hope was practically hugging herself, clearly worried. Waiting to hear what this could possibly be. The siblings in law shared a concerned caring look between each other before continuing.
"Some said they saw her vomiting, barely sleeping, we've seen some swelling in her feet and she made a complain to her friends about her back pain too the other day. We think it may be a liver issue but we'd need an ultrasound." Kol explained their recent discoveries.
"But you can't do it yet because a family member needs to consent if the patient isn't known to a death at any second, right?" Which answered Hope with the two nodding.
"I'll see if I can get in touch with her mo-" just when Hope was about to finish her sentence beeps came from Josie's room causing the three Mikaelsons to rush in.
Thankfully it wasn't anything bad, but just a sign of the heart to "announce" its waking. Causing Hope to run to Josie's side as the brunette stirred from her sleep.
Josie opened her eyes and slowly tried getting up, maybe a little too fast cause things were a little blurry and it caused her head to hurt.
The aubrenette quickly stopped her and tried soothing her by rubbing circles on her back and handing her a glass of water.
"Take it easy, and drink some water." Which Josie nodded to and grabbed the glass almost taking everything in one sip.
"Wow, someone's thirsty." Kol joked making Josie notice the two other people in the room with them.
"And hungry. I feel like I haven't ate in months." The brunette continued, sitting up comfortably as much as you can on a hospital bed.
After a few moments of silence, the discussion continued.
"Well from what Hope told us... you looked pretty tired during the surgery you scrubbed into and after it you just fell unconscious. We did some tests but there's seems to be a little delay in the lab so there's no results of that yet." Kol started explaining.
"And we want to preform some exams too, especially an ultrasound since our diagnosis is that we're dealing with a liver problem but it could be lots of things. We just want to rule out the main first." Keelin finished.
Josie had a tear threatening to escape her eye, she thought she has been taking care of herself well enough but apparently not.
"Yeah um- I'd like to do that as soon as possible." The brunette replied to them before a beep filled the room caused by Hope's pager.
Signaling the aubrenette needed to go.
"I need to go... but I'll come see you later, Jo." Hope said as she stood up but before leaving, she gave Josie a little kiss on her forehead which caused a confused look from her family.
Once Hope left the room, Keelin got the machine ready to preform the exam, as she spread the gel over Josie abdomen and began looking for what she needed with the wand.
After a few seconds of searching the place they predicted was the problem, nothing was seen. "It looks like we have nothing he-" only to be cut by the blob that came on screen when she lowered the wand.
"Is that a-" Josie suddenly said, the pressed button by Keelin which filled the room with fast, and healthy heartbeats that confirmed her theory.
"Well... it seems like you're pregnant, Josie." Keelin kinda tried to get out of this awkward situation cause this was not what she want expecting. Not that she'd want one of her residents to be sick or something but yeah...
Josie was staring at the screen in awe,"Not that it's any of my business, but is the father in the picture?" Which caused the brunette to change her gaze to the older women.
Hope. How the hell am I supposed to tell her about this after I hurt her? She thought to herself. "Um- it's a pretty complicated situation." Was all she could say cause after all this was Hope's aunt she was talking to.
"Well if you need anything just know that I'm here for you, I might seem to be a heartless person on duty but sometimes a teacher needs to be a little cruel for his students to learn." Keelin softly told Josie as she turned off the machine and cleaned up the resident's stomach.
"Also, I don't really know how this works... but does me being- pregnant. Change anything with work?" She questioned, getting a reply from Kol almost immediately.
"No, of course not, darling. Most doctors usually stay on the job till their due date and then they have a break, that works on residents too. But you should take it easy cause being in medical brings a lot of pressure on you which isn't good for the baby."
Josie nodded to that with a famous pout as the two Mikaelsons left the room, leaving Josie alone to her thoughts.
(What do we think of the Mikaelsons and their newest edition to the family 👀 kinda like where this cute Keelin and Josie friendship is going... tell me what you thought of this chapter in the comments, I always love reading them and it always helps me write more 😊)
