Nkoeneane looked at niya her eyes looked white from afar he rushed to her "mthaniya!" He shouted.

Niya: " look it rained..." he cuts her off.

Nkoeneane: " yes baby but you will get a cold come let's get you warm"

Lady: "Mqhele come baby let's get you dried up"

He looks at his mother and then the little girl and smiles.

Mqhele: " I will see you around"

A man comes holding a blanket.

Man: " My prince," he says wrapping him in a blanket.

Nkoeneane looks at the couple at the door and the little boy then quickly scoops up niya putting her face on his shoulder.

Trying to prevent people from seeing her changed eyes.

But the king and queen have noticed they both look at each other then the man with the child makes way for them to pass.

They know those eyes their child has had those eyes when something bad happened or someone died in the family the first time was six years ago when their triplets were born.

Queen Imani: " I want that child far away from my son," she says looking at the king.

Nkoeneane couldn't help but hear the queen and the fear in her voice.

Fear can get anyone to do anything and to protect one from their fear they could do anything he thought as he started jogging with niya to Gogo's ward.

Nkoeneane: "mama mama! We need to leave I will come to see you tomorrow," he said frenetically.

Gogo Ntombi: " what's wrong I thought you will have supper with me"

Nkoeneane: " sorry ma but something came up"

He couldn't worry  her in her state.

Gogo Ntombi: " ok lets me kiss my baby"

Nkoeneane: " no ma I need to get her dry before she catches a cold," he says rushing for the door.

Gogo looks at the door as it closes she can't help but wonder what happened.

The morning had come while Nkoeneane was still awake after hours of tossing and turning he had to find a way to protect his family.

One thought had come to mind maybe he could go see a healer for answers.

Gogo would be upset with him but he needs to act and laying here was not helping.

He quickly got up fixed his bed and prepared the hot water for his bath while he made some porridge for breakfast.

Once the water was ready he took a bath and woke niya up once he was done she too took a bath then they sat together having breakfast.

Niya: " I can't wait to go to the hospital today to see my new friend"

Nkoeneane tensed up instantly.

" he gave me sweets I hope he has more sweets today, can we get something so I can share with him"

Nkoeneane couldn't disappoint her so he said
" yeah sure" while he puts a spoonful of porridge in his mouth.

he had decided yesterday that she was not to set foot at that hospital He couldn't risk it.

Nkoeneane: " why don't you finish up so we can go for a drive"

Niya: " ok " she took her bowl lifting it to drink her porridge
Nkoeneane laughed "slow down before you choke"

Niya: " done  let's go," she says running to the kitchen with her dish"

Nkoeneane walks in as she is taking water from a bucket with a jug she gets on a chair and starts rinsing her dish.

He smiles looking at her.

She loved being independent it made her feel older.

Niya: " you want me to rinse yours too," she said with pleading eyes and a smile on her face.

Nkoeneane: " who would say no to such a cute face," he said handing over his bowl.

After a while, they were sitting outside on the stoop and Nkoeneane was combing her hair putting it in two ponytails with colorful rebounds.

They were in the car driving on the dusty roads as niya looked outside pointing at everything.

Niya: " Abuti can we get a sheep"

Nkoeneane: " a sheep," he said confused

Niya: " yes a baby sheep," she says with the biggest smile ever.

Nkoeneane: " ok I will see what I can do, but I can get you a doll today"

Niya: " no I am fine let's save the money"

Nkoeneane looked at her stunned, 'how old is this child' he thought to himself.

The car drove for another 5 km before he stopped in front of a gate.

Niya squinted her eyes.

Niya: " what are we doing here"

Nkoeneane: " we came to get help"

Niya moves her eyes from the window to Nkoeneane and then back to the house, shaking her head.

Nkoeneane walked around the car and scooped niya up putting him on his hip then walked into the yard after locking the car.

A man stood by the door with a huge smile while looking at them.

Old man: " greeting Motlalepula Mthaniya mofumahadi wa Basotho, indlovukazi yamaZulu.[ the Basotho princess and the Zulu queen]
