This region is so beautiful that it fools the eye into thinking the lush vegetation and gushing waterfalls are all manmade.

After the experience I have had today, I realised that urban legends about how alluring the road to hell is were spot on.

If I closed my eyes, I could almost picture the serpent slithering up to us, learning our deepest wishes, and promising to meet them in exchange for deceiving us into eternal torment.

As I laid on his chest and watched the river flow, he asked, "What are you thinking of?" while gently running his fingers over my hair.

"Are you finally ready to admit to me that you will love me forever and ever like you did?" That's another thing, too! I thought was dead.

Shaking my head firmly, "no," I hide my face with my hands. "My memory fails me on that one my prince."

With a gentle "What!" he shoves me off of him and sets his palms on the ground to push himself up.

He flashes me a sly grin as I brace myself to flee. When asked, "where are you going?"

My feet are drawn up to my butt and I give a head shake, getting ready to leap. Like a leopard, he pounces on me, and I am suddenly crushed under his weight.

Those eyes are a promise of forever, a vortex of unquenchable passion. I feel my heart racing, or maybe it's his. All this smiling has set fire to my cheeks, and they're begging for mercy.

"I don't want to go back there; can we go back to Bloemfontein?" He grabs my hand and pulls me to my feet.

He puts his hands around my waist and circles me while staring into my eyes. I'm pleading with my eyes for him to understand that I simply cannot return.

"Let me inform Notha first before she dispatches a search party, all right?" He pulls his phone out of his pocket and furiously types on the screen.

He grabs my hand and says, "Come on, let's go.'I'm in a muddle and I can't get out!
"Go where?" he pauses and looks at me.
"Woman are so indecisive. You made me think you wanted to head home.
"Yes...but... I can't walk from kzn to Bloem, that is...."

His head falls back and his stomach rumbles with laughter; is he dying? I can't help but look at him in bewilderment. Maybe he's having a fit; if so, I have no idea where we are, and his hands are on his knees. Ugh, here we go again.

I speed up to counteract his weight. to ask if everything is all right.
That eerie grin on his face rises.
"What's the matter? "
To which I said, "I thought you having... never mind." I throw my hand to the back of my head.
He gives me the shake of the head and grabs my hand.
"A vehicle ought to be waiting for us by the curb, so hurry up."

What a lucky thing that Gogo is here, because she will very doubt be praying for the queen, whom I am convinced is possessed by a ghost I offended in a previous life.

He gestures towards the black Lamborghini Urus and says, "There he is."

"Holy cow, that's an urus! I hope your friend will let me sit up front."
I don't understand why he's cracking up.
"I'm sorry if I come off as too forward."

He bowed and walked over to hand over the keys, saying, "My prince," as a black SUV pulled up next to us.

In a flash, Mqhele had me in the passenger seat, opened the door, and is already behind the wheel. When did he get in? My heart starts racing as the car revs up, and I glance back through the settling dust to see Notha and Amandla behind.

His cell phone rings and he ignores it one could guess correctly who it is. "We'll get some food in Ladysmith, where we'll also refuel."
Why does he care so much about food? What I need to know is why it is that I am avoiding my pals.

He grabs my ringing phone from my hand and puts it between his thighs. He looks straight ahead as if he feels no obligation to explain himself. He seems to be attempting to provoke me into an argument, but that's not who I am. It's going to be such a lengthy journey that I rest my head on the backrest and wish we could have flown instead.

When we reach Ladysmith, I finally wake up, and I find myself wondering, "Why on earth are we not flying again?" because the petrol tank in this car is so expensive.
"I am sure Gogo thinks you kidnapped me I need to let her know I am fine and heading back to school." I remark as we enter the eatery.

He hands me the phone, and on the first ring, Gogo picks it up. "Oh my baby, I was sure those beasts had finally finished you off and drained you dry of your blood." This elderly lady, Mara.
"I'm good, Gogo, and I'm going back to school because I just can't..." My explanation gets cut short here.

"That's excellent. Thank goodness, because I need you to get as far away from these scum as possible. The blood of four more victims had been drained from their bodies when they were discovered. What we are witnessing is diabolical, much beyond the realm of witchcraft. They have people interrogating every guest in the throne room I think they want to wipe away our memories. Never! Never fear; they are not reaching me."

"Gogo Ntombi, take a deep breath, ok?"

"Hayi wena, you're still a kid; obviously, you don't know all this. Oh, your mother has not stopped crying," she adds... "keng Nkoeneane, can't you see I'm on the phone?" and with that, our call has ended.

My grandma's blood pressure is dangerously high, so they had better get out of there pronto.
