"Please, prince Louis." Harry looked at him with glimpse of sadness in his eyes.
Louis just stared back at him, his hands resting by his sides while he played with his fingers nervously.
"I already made my decision." he swallowed harshly.
"You did? You told me you didn't want any of them." Harry's brows furrowed.
"Yes, I did. Do you think I could just choose to stay alone?! If I could I wouldn't be running away!" he fisted his hands.
"Who did you choose?"
"Prince Valron." the younger of the princes saddened, sitting down on the step made of stone.
"There is no going back now. I can't just tell him to go away." Louis huffed out.
"Don't think I would do it to be with you. I wouldn't. You betrayed me." the boy hugged himself tightly.
"I am deeply sorry for what I did, I trully am." Harry kept watching the prince, whom was sitting down, closely.
"Those are just words, empty words. You have no way to prove you mean them." Louis stood up again, looking Harry into his emerald eyes.
"Don't I?" Harry made a step closer, taking in how beautiful was the younger prince's face.
"You don't." Louis repeated, feeling slightly threatened by how close Harry was right now.
The green eyed prince leaned in, his breath hitting Louis' soft skin now. Louis' breath hitched in his chest.
As Harry was about to capture Louis' lips a loud fanfare spread through the palace.
The king and prince Leopold have arrived back to the palace. Louis made a step back and Harry turned his head towards the door.
"My brother and father are here. I think it's best for you to leave soon. You can stay for the night since your horse is for sure tired. Ask the maid to show you the chamber you can stay in." Louis slightly beckoned his head when he reached the door, knocking on them to signal the guards to open them for him.
The older prince stood there with frown on his face. He reached into his pocket, taking out an embroidered handkerchief made of silk.
There was lavender in the corner of it. He wanted to give it to him, but Louis was already gone.
Even worse... he didn't want to do anything with Harry. What hurt even more was that he let him stay just because of his horse, Damon.
Harry made his way out of the hall as well, stopping the first maid he saw.
"Excuse me, could you show me my chamber. Prince Louis told me to find a maid who could tell me the way."
"Of course prince Harry." she smiled, leading the prince through the palace. Harry could hear few faint neighs of horses coming from the courtyard.
"Here is your chamber." the maid showed him in.
Harry had to say it was pretty cozy here. He liked how it looked."Thank you."
"You are welcome. Tea is being served around five. The royal family and prince Valron will join." Harry knew it was polite to join them as well and thank them, but he couldn't face Valron, nor Louis or king Philip.
"I will pass tonight. Please say to the family that I am very thankfull."
"Will do prince." she beckoned, leaving Harry to his own thoughts.
•••
He was laying in the bed with the handkerchief still in his hand.He thought he could hear something from the outside, so he stepped up to the window.
Oh, how he wished he didn't do that.
He could see prince Valron riding his horse right next to Louis and his Nova.
He kept talking to Louis about something the whole time. The blue eyed prince seemed pretty unbothered by their conversation. He occasionally looked up and said a simple answer, nothing more. He didn't smile, didn't initiate the conversation.
Harry felt terrible.
He could be the one on Valron's place if he wasn't so stupid, he could call Louis his.
He watched with bothered expression on his face as the pair made their way towards the woods.
He felt sick, emotionally sick. He made his way back to the bed eventually, trying to get some sleep. He had to leave before breakfast. He didn't want to face Louis, not again.
Meanwhile the blue eyed prince rode by the side of his betrothed, the feeling in his chest uneasy.
"The weather is quite good today, am I right?" Valron said. He was the only one who tried to keep the conversation going.
The boy didn't answer and Valron was quickly getting fed up with Louis not paying attention.
"Louis, I said something. I would like you to say something back." the boy snapped out of his little world, glancing back at Valron."Oh, it's good." he hoped that was an acceptable answer.
Valron devoted him a stare before he continued speaking.
"I would like us to communicate more. This is not enough. You barely told me something about you, your beliefs, interests..." Louis knew that. The reason why he didn't talk as much was that he didn't want to share those things with the prince. He didn't want to pretend, and he didn't want to behave like a royal child all the time.
With Henry- he liked to remember the stableboy only, not the prince that he actually was. When he was with the stableboy he could let his guard down. He could laugh, he could say whatever he wanted, knowing he wouldn't be judged.
"Tell me. What is your favourite colour? I am thinking of our wedding robes."
"I- like lot of colours... maybe- maybe green."
"Why green? What message does it have?"
"It represents nature?" the boy questioned.
"I think white and gold are better colours. Those colours hold traditions. Apart from that, green would probably look weird on a wedding." Louis took his eyes to Nova's saddle, regretting he shared his opinion with him.
