I didn't think I would be returning back to Raya Academy.

Not in my wildest dreams, honestly. But life has a funny way of humbling you.

I had just graduated from Raya Preparatory School a few months prior. And now I was going to attend their "Crossroads College" for another year. It's essentially a step in between Prep school and University.

Not all students go to Crossroads College.

Only the ones that have no idea what they want to do with their life. Or couldn't get into a prestigious college.

Like myself, so it seems.

I might see some people I graduated with- most likely far and few. Not many people who graduate from Raya Prep wind up at Crossroads College. But many other people in the country do. So, I would be seeing plenty of new faces, I was sure.

My parents dropped me off swiftly at the grand entrance of the college- which was separate from the prep school. They gave me a very swift goodbye, which was expected after this past summer.

They have had enough of me, I assume.

I stood there for a moment, a slight breeze hitting my face as I took in the buildings. They were all grand and made of stone, and had a very familiar look to the Prep school buildings.

But this was different. It may be Crossroads- but it was still college.

I took out my map of the campus to try to find the main Castle, where I would be residing. While the building is referred to as a castle, it's not actually one. It is much smaller, just architecturally designed to look like a castle.

"Miss, let me take your luggage." I heard a voice next to me.

I looked up from the map to see a young man with curly dark hair with a trolley in front of him full of luggage.

"Are you sure?" I asked him, "It looks like you have a lot already there."

"It's my job." he said, "Where will you be staying?"

"The main castle." I said, "Do you happen to know where it is?"

"Yes, in fact, that is where I am headed with all of this luggage." he said, taking my belongings and hauling them in with the rest, "You can walk with me."

I walked next to the mystery guy, and finally, I asked him, "What is your name?"

"Emilio." he answered, plowing ahead, pushing the luggage, "I am a groundskeeper here at the college. What is your name, Miss?"

"Natasha. Natasha Morton." I said, getting hotter and hotter with each step we took. This late August heat was no joke.

"It's nice to meet you, Miss Morton." Emilio looked at me, "We are almost at the castle."

I trudged along the rest of the way, the only breeze hitting my body was my legs beneath my skirt and my face. My sweater, which was gray with a white collar, felt way too sticky against my body.

Finally, we reached the Castle. "Which room are you in?" Emilio asked me, "It's either 1, 2, or 3."

"I am in room 3," I said, shielding my eyes from the sun.

"So, you're on the third floor." Emilio said, "It's the first room to your right. I am sure you will see your other roommates. I will be bringing up the luggage."

"Thank you, Emilio." I said, gratefully, "I will see you around."

He gave me a nod, and I walked into the Main Castle.
