TW: This part discusses a suicide attempt.
A couple of weeks later, the term was in full swing. It was now February, and I had to start thinking about where I was going to go to University after Crossroads soon enough.
But according to my parents, that might not happen.
On Thursday during the second week of February, there was a call waiting for me in the commons room from them.
I was on that phone all the time with Blaze- but not my parents, so I was slightly alarmed when they called me.
I went to the commons room and picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Natasha, what is going on? I just got a report that your grades are dropping." my mother's impatient voice came through.
"You did?" I asked her.
"Yes. You've missed assignments. You're not doing as well on your quizzes. What is going on? I demand you tell me now." my mother said.
"Raina, at least ask how she is as well." I heard my father say.
"No time. We only have a couple of minutes. And I'm sure she's fine." my mother said back to my father.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
"Father, I'm fine," I said.
"But your grades aren't." my mother said, "How do you expect to get into a University? Crossroads was your second chance. Tell me, are you dating someone? Your grades dropped the last time you dated that girl. I don't even remember her name. And when she broke up with you."
I felt my heart start pounding. I didn't realize my mother had put two and two together on that one.
"No, mother. I'm not." I lied, "I'll work harder. I promise."
"You better." my mother said, "On the next report I want to see improvement. And you better not have one missed assignment, do you hear me Natasha Mariah Morton?"
Full name. She was mad.
"Yes, mother," I said back.
What a nice chat. This was the first time she had called me this term.
"We will talk soon. Goodbye," she said and then hung up.
I sat there for a moment in the commons room, blinking back tears.
This happened when I started dating Morgan- and after we broke up as well. My grades suffered even more than usual.
But I was not going to let that destroy anything I had with Blaze. I would work harder, but also still maintain my relationship with her.
I was seeing her this weekend- it had been almost 2 weeks since I saw her last and I couldn't wait. I was taking the train to Valoria again to go visit her.
Saturday was when I was planning on seeing her. I told Headmaster Ryland that I was going home for the night- but I was going back to Upright to see Blaze.
I had missed Blaze a lot. Talking on the phone wasn't enough, even though it was better than nothing.
But when I ran into her arms again at the train station- I felt whole again.
That night we went out in Valoria. We decided to go to a few bars, and then head back at around midnight to her room. Upright had a 1 am curfew for all their students. We made it back just in time.
Blaze and I were drunk. She a bit more than me- but we collapsed on her bed together, not even bothering to get dressed in our pajamas. Her roommate had stayed out for the night again- giving us privacy.
