TOM
When we entered the house, the lights were off and the windows were pretty much covered by sheer drapes; although a person outside would have easily been able to see the shadow of a body behind them. When Y/N stumbled upon the body in the kitchen however, that's when Haz wisely decided to turn the lights on.
I pulled the woman's shoulder to roll her limp body onto her back, the loud thud echoing in the room. She was shot point blank in between the eyes, perfectly in the middle of her eyebrows. Y/N screwed her face up and turned away when she saw the nanny's cold dead eyes staring lifelessly at the ceiling, yet I couldn't stop staring at the precision of this shot.
Getting a headshot is difficult when your target is looking at you, let alone in the forehead and then between the eyes like this. If they were facing away, you could shoot them in the back of the skull before they realised you were in the room. If they faced you, they could easily run, move, duck and jump out of the way. But this, this was so meticulously precise that I couldn't help but be impressed.
Except I realised something.
How could you get your shot so precise but leave so little damage? I mean yeah, she's dead but her head is mostly in tact still... It would be near impossible to have this accurate of a hit from long range...
"You reckon Priya shot the nanny as another warning to us all?" I chuckled, pushing my fingers against the nanny's forehead to retrieve the bullet remnants from her skull.
"Probably, we just need to find Robyn. She probably came home and saw her nanny dead before freaking out and hiding with Oli," Y/N answered, still turning away from me. That's probably a good thing, I'm practically fingering a dead persons forehead right now.
Look, it was pretty fucking gross feeling the cracks and shatters of her skull squish under the pressure of my fingers, but I had a good reason.
"Jesus Tom, what the fuck is wrong with you?" Haz scoffed, mostly at the fact I was fucking around with a dead woman's head but also at the fact I was laughing.
"It's a full metal jacket," I said holding up the tiny piece of metal shot from the cartridge and smirking. Haz screwed his face up at me, still disgusted at the blood on my hand. Y/N was awfully confused too.
I sighed and walked reluctantly over to the sink, running my hand under the water quickly before walking back to Haz and Y/N with a semi clean hand now, still holding the bullet. They still looked at me like lost children. Fucking hell do I need to spell it out?
"Haz, what bullet do you use to make sure someone's going to die if you shoot them mate?" I quizzed.
"Oh like... A hollow point or a RIP round if they're a prick maybe? Something to tear you apart whilst it goes through you," Haz shrugged, as if my question was as mundane and as simple as asking a child what colour the sky was.
"Exactly, you're not going to load a gun with fucking FMJ's if you want someone dead in one shot," I said smirking again.
Now Haz understood.
"So either Priya didn't shoot our nanny, or she didn't have any decent ammunition on her, why would she use a full metal jacket coming into something like this? Surely she would own something better," Haz grinned.
I took a deep breath and furrowed my brows, trying to think why Priya would have done this. We know she killed Amalie as a warning, knowing that Amalie was someone who tried to protect and help us. And Matìz from the front gate is dead too now, which also makes sense because security guards are hired to protect us. And now the nanny, someone hired to protect the baby.
Priya is killing anyone and everyone who protects us to weaken our circle.
"Or she didn't come here with the intention to start a bloodbath," Y/N said quietly, almost as if she was thinking aloud.
"Pardon darling?"
"Priya is too smart to expose herself to a threat like this with such a low calibre gun... She would've brought something bigger, more powerful," Y/N squinted.
We heard a creak from upstairs, which gave Haz a sigh of relief that Robyn was still here and in her usual hiding spot. It's kind of funny to me that she has a hiding spot that Harrison knows she goes to in case something like this happens. Haz has never really equipped Robyn with the skills to defend herself, but Robyn is the least violent person I know so it wouldn't surprise me if she refused to learn.
"I think Priya is inside the house... I think she's still in here and Robyn has trapped her inside without realising," Y/N said worriedly, looking up at Haz with fear in her eyes.
"What makes you think that?" I asked cautiously.
"Because Priya isn't an idiot..." Y/N said moving quickly past Haz and I, swiftly heading towards the stairs.
Haz and I couldn't call out to her because if she was right, Priya would be able to hear us as soon as we went upstairs. So, I jogged after her, grabbed her arm and pulled her back towards me.
"You stay in the middle. Haz will go first, then you, and then me at the back. I need you to stay safe," I whispered, kissing her forehead lightly before she let Haz go in front of her as we moved quietly up the stairs.
Haz stopped and held his gun up in front of him as we all started to hear soft and faint music coming from behind their bedroom door. It wasn't clear, perhaps playing from a phone at half volume or something. As we crept closer, Haz reached for the door handle and took a deep breath.
Pushing it open and aiming, Haz entered the room followed by Y/N and myself. I was right, the music was coming from a phone, more specifically Robyn's phone laying on the bed. Y/N walked over to it slowly as I looked in their ensuite and wardrobe for either Priya or Robyn. I'll admit, it was a little strange to have a song by Queen playing in the background right now.
"Fuck me..." Haz muttered, causing me to walk back out and see him staring at the back of his bedroom door which had almost swung shut behind us.
Y/N walked slowly over to stand by him, covering her mouth in shock. And lastly, I walked over to join them, staring at the back of the door where a message was written in red lipstick.
Ready or not, here I come
♡
"She wasn't lying when she said she wanted to play hide and seek with me," Haz mumbled angrily, staring at the door with rage.
"The heart isn't lipstick like the rest of the message though, that's definitely blood," Y/N said moving closer towards the door and lowering her gun.
"Who's blood though?" Haz asked worriedly, obviously fearing the worst; his wife or his son.
Y/N turned around and looked back at Robyn's phone in confusion when it started to play the same song again. She moved over to it and screwed her face up when she saw that the song had been searched for on Spotify, meaning it wasn't in any of Robyn's playlists.
"What's the meaning behind Who Wants to Live Forever by Queen though?" I hesitated.
