I Never Forgot

Chapter 8

Previously from Chapter 6:
I found out that the reason Carla was running for Secretary was because Kobe was running for president. Elections happened and Rose is having her birthday party. Gigi found out that I have a crush and Kailah unfortunately was eavesdropping. Now my secret will probably come out. Also Summer is flirting with Tubby and it is the most hilarious thing I have ever seen.

Now:
I look back at Kailah who was giving me a look that screamed,"TELL ME!" I knew that I would end up telling her, but I don't want to.

It started to get late, but the party was just beginning. Everyone ate and hung out. Lina unfortunately couldn't sleepover so she left around 10, but while everyone was once again swimming, Summer, Kailah, and I were all on a big hammock. Usually during sleepovers Summer, Kailah, Lina, and I left everyone and just talk about stuff, I like it, but it somehow gets the unincluded party memebers upset. We called ourselves the Fabulous Four, and usually these times away from everyone else was a nice way for the Fabulous Four to bond.

"Do you ever wish...you could just try again?" I ask.

"Where is this coming from?" Asks Summer.

"From 6th grade, when Toby left.....Maybe I could have helped him and kept him from moving."

"Paris, he left because his friends were jerks, not because you liked him," Kailah says.

"This why it's hard for me to have a crush, because what happened. I don't want to go through the pain all over again," I explain," No one understands what has happened to me."

"Paris, the same thing happened with Jack and me," Summer tells me.

"No, Summer it's different. Everyone still thinks I like him, and I don't, but some pain just can't be forgotten."

"How is it that what happens with Jack and me not the same," she snaps," I moved away from him."

"I'm not saying what happened to you wasn't bad, but people never let it go, and you were much younger and didn't understand this topic. Of course I don't understand much now but better than I did in preschool," I explain," Also Summer you saw Jack again."

"Isn't Toby going to Freedom?" Asks Kailah.

"Yeah, but I don't know that for sure."

"But Paris, you are lying," Kailah points out," You do like someone, you told Gigi."

"Oh yeah, I do, but-"

"Well who is it!" Asks Summer anxiously.

"I'm not telling......"

"Why not? Asks Kailah.

"Because, I'm not sure yet."

"You can tell us," pleads Summer," Please tell us!!" I look at them. I don't want to tell them.

"Paris, we won't tell..."Kailah says gently. I look at them, deciding whether I should tell them or not. This was a big decision because once I tell them I have to trust them, then I have to tell all my other friends and they might tell their friends. But, they are my friends and I'm supposed to tell them everything.

"I-I like.......Kobe," I confess. They were silent.

"Really?" Kailah asks.

"What, you like Bryce and Jake," I snap.

"No, it's not that-,"

"My, you guys would be the cutest couple!" Summer interrupts," and he is kind of cute."

"Why do you like him?" Asks Kailah.

"Well it was at camp......he was just so nice to me nothing like he is like at school, and he is funny," I explain," He is smart and athletic and he is going to Freedom." My friends smile at me. This was a good idea. However, I know people will start finding out about it, but no secret can stay a secret forever.
