Chapter 30

Previously in Chapter 28
It was the 8th grade Sacremento trip, and we were all excited. These 3 days were to be spent with my friends, and Kobe. Speaking of which, while we were ice skating, Kobe caught me when I fell. After that incident his friends started teasing me and him. Why would he catch me, knowing his friends would tease him?

Now:

"So you think he didn't mean what he said on your birthday?" Asks Summer.

"Yeah," I reply. We were at the Sacremento Zoo. After this we were supposed to go to the California History Museum and then the capital.

"No, Kobe is a jerk that is stupid and he doesn't deserve your admiration." Summer shakes her head back and forth.

"Yeah Paris maybe you are wrong about him being nice," Kailah pitches in.

"No I'm not, I know Kobe like no one else. Everyone at this school sees him as a jerk, but he was so nice at the Leadership camp we went to during the summer. He was a completely different person."

"Sorry Paris, you are living a fairytale," Summer says. I look over at Lina who looked like she was about to have a heart attack.

"Are you ok?" I ask shocked.

"No!" She bursts out," I'm sick of you two nagging on Kobe when he really isn't a bad guy!" Lina points to Summer and Kailah.

"What aren't you tell us?" Asks Kailah.

"Ok, before I got on the bus for Paris's birthday party, Kobe talked to me. He told me he didn't want to sound so harsh, but he also didn't want his friends to tease him," Lina explains," He doesn't like you, but be really wants to have a friendship with you."

"Why didn't you tell me this?" I ask stunned.

"Because he told me not to tell. He didn't want you to tell people and have his friends find out. He really doesn't like being teased by them," Lina explains," At first I thought he was being selfish and a coward, but then I realized this morning that his friends can be mean."

"Well?" Summer asks what I think.

I think this is great news!" I beam," Look, I will catch up to you guys later I need to talk to Kobe." I get up and walk off. I needed to find Kobe. Before I could find him my chaperone was calling me to come back to the group. We had to get to the museum. I will do it later. Maybe tonight. Tonight we are going to a small park. It had minigolf, some amusement park rides, and an arcade. This field trip is much more interesting and and benefiting than I thought.

"Are you really sure you want to do this?" Kailah whispers.

"Yeah, later," I whisper smiling. We were in the middle of the Capital. Kobe wasn't in my group, but Kailah's crush, Trevor, was.

"I'm going to do you a little favor," I whisper to Kailah. She gives me a curious look. I walk over to Trevor.

"Hey Trevor, Kailah looks lonely, you should talk to her," I tell him. Trevor shrugs and walks over to Kailah. I smile giving her a thumbs up. She replies with a shy smile.

"What did you do?" Summer asks suspiciosuly. I point over to Kailah and Trevor.

"Good job." Summer gives me a high five. I think I'm ready to talk to Kobe.

After the Capital tour, which was amazing by the way, we went on a stupid steamboat ride. We board the ship and my friends and I grab a table on the top floor. The steamboat ride was a about 30 minutes long, and probably the best thing happened on it. So I was just sitting and minding my own business. All of a sudden Bryce and John walk over to me and start teasing me.
