"Has anything happened with One For All?" Asked All Might.
"No. Nothing." Deku replied after sipping his tea. "Recovery Girl hasn't found anything since the first check-up, and it hasn't acted up for a while." All Might drank from his cup before asking another question.
"Have you used it?"
"No. At least, ever since the fire, I haven't used it outside of lessons."
"And it's behaved normally?" Deku nodded in response. All Might placed his cup on the table, leaned back on his sofa and looked at the ceiling.
"It doesn't make sense." He stated. "One For All randomly activated to show you a vision of the past then acts normally whenever it's used."
"Recovery Girl said there's been a spike in energy, but doesn't know what caused it." Deku told him. All Might sighed before seemingly realising something and then looking at Deku.
"A spike in One For All's energy?" He questioned.
"Uh. Yeah, of course." Deku replied.
"So it's suddenly gotten stronger?" All Might suggested. Deku pondered for a moment.
'Wait. Has it?' He thought. He started thinking about how it felt using it during the fire and compared how it felt beforehand. After thinking about it, he came to a realisation."No. It hasn't." He stated. "One For All when used at 5% now feels the same as it always has. It's not stronger at all." He surged the power through his hand to feel it.
"I see." Said All Might, placing his hand on his chin. "So the spike had to have been from different energy. An energy that's separate from One For All's, yet is still connected."
"But what would that be?" Deku asked, powering down his hand. "Recovery Girl's machine should have only detected the energy from a Quirk." After saying that, it hit him, and he stood up.
"All Might. That energy spike was caused by a previous user's Quirk!""WHA-HA-HAAAT?!" All Might exclaimed with blood erupting from his mouth. He coughed quite a bit before talking. "That's a pretty crazy thought kid."
"I know, but think about it." Deku responded. "One For All is a Quirk that can be passed on to someone else. Maybe it has the potential to also pass down the Quirks of previous wielders?"
"If that's true, then why didn't I or any of our predecessors receive these powers?" Deku sat back down.
"I don't know. It must have to do with this singularity point the first wielder told me about."
"Right. He did say something about that." All Might faced down and placed his hand on his chin. "I don't suppose you've heard of the Quirk singularity theory, have you?"
Deku picked his cup back up.
"Yeah. It's the theory made by Dr Kyudai Garaki. It suggests that Quirks will evolve to become stronger than humans can handle."
"Yeah. It's pretty scary to think about."
"I try not to." Deku raised his tea to his mouth and drank. After a moment of silence, All Might spoke up again.
"Anyway, I bring it up because both use the word, 'singularity' in their names."
Deku placed his tea back on the table.
"Quirks combining through the generations to make stronger powers. One For All combining the Quirks of the past. Yeah, it makes sense." Deku was facing downwards, his expression and voice both dim. He was worried about the implications of what they had just talked about. All Might could sense the immense concern emanating from him, so he tried to lighten the mood.
"Hey. That's only if you're right about the whole multiple Quirk thing. I'll have Recovery Girl look further into it, just to confirm. Until then, don't worry about it too much." Deku just looked up and smiled."Ah. I just remembered. That's not the only thing I wanted to see you about." Said All Might
"Uh. Okay. What else did you need?" Deku asked.
"I wanted to know how you've been holding up after that fire. And I wanted to know how Young Uraraka is doing as well."
"Oh. I see." Deku blushed a bit. "I've been fine and Uraraka's feeling better than she did before."
"That's good to hear." All Might replied.
"Mm." Deku nodded as he was facing down. His expression seemed conflicted, which All Might noticed.
"Something on your mind?" He asked. Deku faced upward with the same expression.
"Recently, I've been thinking about my life as a Pro." He explained.
"Oh yeah? Are you worried?" All Might asked.
"I've just been thinking about how Pros can balance their personal lives with their Hero work. I was worried if I'd struggle with that."
"I see." All Might sighed and placed his hand on the back of his head. "Sorry kid, but I'm not the best person to ask. I was never good at maintaining that balance." He looked at Deku, who still seemed troubled. "Hey. Don't overthink things. You're smart and good at organising things. I'm sure you'll know how to cross that bridge when you get to it." He finished holding his fist out. Deku smiled.
"Yeah. Thanks." He said.
