I never cared for nobody, like I care for you.
And I never wanted to share the things, I want to share with you.
Oooh, babe, lost in love is what I feel when I'm with you.

Juliet is going to be gone for a few weeks promoting her new EP and I'm looking forward to hanging with Casey like we used to.
The next few rehearsals though, Liv came without her and I was beginning to wonder if I said or did something to piss her off.

I followed Liv back to their apartment to talk to her, I knocked and she answered a breathless, "Come in."
She was laying face down across her bed, splayed out like a starfish.

"Hey you.", I said and she sat up.

"What are you doing here?"

"I was wondering why you haven't been to any more of our practices?"

"I'm sorry, I've just been really busy."

"Are you okay?", I asked, she seemed kind of down.

"Yeah, I'm fine.", she smiled.

"Good, 'cause I had an idea. Let's go sit on a boat dock somewhere and talk like we used to."

"I guess so.", she shrugged and began putting on her shoes.

I drove to a secluded little dock very few people know about, as we were sitting down on the edge she remarked, "I'm surprised you remember this.".

"Of course I do, we talked about a lot of shit when we used to do this."

"Mmm-hmm", she sighed.

The night was muggy-warm, the air was damp, the smell of fresh water permeated the surroundings, and the sounds of cicadas filled the silence.
We talked about everything and nothing for hours and it was nothing like when we were younger, it was so much more fascinating now for some reason.

I thought back to the time I was going to ask her to come to me and wondered if I should tell her about it. "Casey...", I said and she looked over to me; she had the sweetest smile and I lost my nerve. I looked down at my phone instead, "Damn, we've been out here all night, I bet Juliet's freaking out!"

"Yeah, we should go." she sighed.

I took her hand to help her up, but her shoe snagged the edge of the dock and she fell into me. As I caught her, my little laugh died away when she looked up; I've never had her this close to me and it just felt right. When I realized I had been holding her for too long, I let her go and took in a deep breath.
