16. When in prison.
"ORSETEV DAN, you are sentenced to eight years in jail for the murder of Min Hanseo"
It had been three months, Dan was out of the hospital. Min Hanseo was dead, and she had not heard from Han Seojun in a while. He was not allowed to see her anymore since he had caused a big scene when Hanseo's father went to the hospital at the same time as him to visit Dan. He lost his mind when he saw the man who caused the scar on her cheek go to the hospital to curse her out after his son's death.
"I hope you rot in jail, go to hell!" Was one of the things he said. So Han Seojun went crazy and did something ugly. He was banned from the hospital thanks to Hanseo's father, and he was not told about Dan's trial.
"Eight years in jail? You crazy mother-"
"Dan, please..." Her attorney next to her tried to calm her down. Her attorney had done everything in his hands to help Dan, but money is more powerful than justice. It's always been the case.
And so it happened, Dan survived attempted suicide just to go back to prison for another eight years.
[---]
two years later...
"Meet Your Prisoner is Back!" Han Seojun read the flyer with his mom and Han Gowoon. "This again, mom?" He rolled his eyes, so over the event. The event that had brought him happiness, though. "Why not? You seemed to have enjoyed it the first time!"
"I don't need this now, don't you have any love for your son?" Han Seojun said, playing the victim. His mom knew what went on with Dan and Im Jugyeong, she knew everything. "I mean, it didn't work out with Jugyeong. She's with Suho, so why not give convicts another shot?" Seojun's mom replied with sass, which made Gowoon laugh a little.
"Mom!!" Han Seojun groaned. He continued to read the flyer "After almost five years, we are back with yet another fundraiser! Meet your prisoner and learn life lessons, the money will be used to build an orphanage!"
Life lessons, that's all lies. Han Seojun did not believe in this anymore, not after meeting Dan. He wondered where she was, he wanted to look for her, but time is not one to forgive. Also, being an idol took up most of his time. It's hard to do what you want when your schedule is packed with interviews and performances. However, something told him that he should do it right then, something in his heart told him he had unfinished business there, at the prison.
"I'll do it, you don't have to pay."
He was determined to find a broken soul like Dan's and fix it. He was too late to notice Dan's and love her the way she loved him. He was blinded by his love for Jugyeong, knowing it would never happen between the two. Her heart belonged to one person only, and he refused to believe that.
-
Seojun arrived at the prison, he met the same lady he had met almost five years ago. "I remember you!" She immediately recognized him. "Han Seojun!" Seojun was surprised at the fact that she still remembered him. Little did he know about the deal she had made with Dan all those years ago.
"Hello..." He shyly bowed, she looked older now. "Just like before, you were the last one to come. You get the last room, and you don't get to pick your prisoner!" She teased, remembering the day the two met for the first time. At the time, Han Seojun was just a kid. He was immature and mindless of people's feelings.
Now he was a man, he had matured in all ways possible.
"Let me take you to your room. It's 426, again!" She laughed, this brought back memories. He remembered when he met a younger Orsetev Dan. The woman that annoyed him the most back then, but later she came to be the woman he cared for the most.
He opened the door, the room was a lot cleaner and prettier now. He sat down in the chair that was on his side of the room, the same glass barrier divided the room. There was another chair on the other side. Han Seojun waited for the prisoner to arrive.
"Prisoner 0215" The door opened, a woman with a shoulder length wolf cut walked in. She had a scar on her cheek, Seojun immediately recognized her. She smiled at the man, who watched with amusement. He stood up as the cops uncuffed her, she walked closer to him. They completely ignored the glass in between the two, they didn't care at all.
Han Seojun felt his teary eyes become happy again, and Dan's eyes were brought back to life. The woman with lifeless pearls was no longer.
And so they knew it was destiny, they were always meant to be. It wasn't just a coincidence, it couldn't be. And they didn't believe it to be. Unbeknownst to them, they had already met years back. Dan was the girl Seojun had saved from killing herself that night, and she was also the girl in his dreams. It's impossible for that and everything that happened to be a simple coincidence. But now they were together. They knew this was their second chance to start over, their chance to be happy together.
"Will you wait for me? I'll be out of here in six years or less!" She chuckled, admiring every single feature of the man she had always adored. "I'll wait for you until the day I die. When in prison or out there, nothing matters to me but you." He smiled and rested his forehead on the glass. Dan did the same thing, closing her eyes. She was at peace now.
They were both at peace.
