I scream so loud that every nurse and doctor come sprinting into the room. It looks like my mothers eyes are dead. It looks as if she had lost her color. How could that be?
Doctor: Get her to the OR immediately!
The doctor screams and I could tell that this was serious. Did something happen to her? Of course something happened to her. If there wasn't anything wrong with her then why would everyone be screaming and rushing to get her to the operating room?
Nurse: Jane, get him out of here!
Another nurse grabs my wheelchair and I'm screaming my mother's name. I see them start rolling her bed out of the room as the doctor tries to use the defibrillator to try and save her. At this moment... I know.. she's gone forever.
My heart drops to the floor and I can't seem to realize that that woman that was in that bed was dying. That woman was my mother. Everything seemed like it was in slow motion.
My mother died. She was gone. It's been 3 weeks since her death and I'm at Rebecca's house. Rebecca was still missing. Crying with her mother was the only thing that I have been doing these past weeks.
I guess you could say that we were alone together. My leg is way better. I have a fake leg thing. I am like part robot now. I've been walking fine. My stitches were taken out and the only thing left is a scar.
I decided I should go out to the market. Get some food. My house is completely empty. No dad. No mom. No furniture. No anything. It's going to be sold. I got my belongings of course. I'm living at Karen's house now. Karen's husband never returned either. We don't know where he went. I know he's the one who took Rebecca.
We've confronted the police and they've searched but they've found nothing. What if she's gone forever.
I walked into the store and took off my hood. It was raining outside. I couldn't look up. I couldn't look at all the happy people. All the happy couples and families.
Noises: BANG CRASH!!!!
Girl: OW! Hey! Watch it, buddy!
Erik: Sorry, miss... I-
I looked up at her face.. and I froze.
No. I can't do this. My heart belongs to Rebecca. Not this random girl I see at a store. I can't do this. But what if she's gone forever. Will I just stay alone forever. No, I need to do something. But what?
Girl: Oh... sorry. I didn't know you were so cute. I should have been nicer. My name is Tiffany.
Erik: I'm Erik... And did you say cute?
Tiffany: Yeah. I'm not gonna hide it. I think you're attractive. What's there to hide? Anyway, I have to go. Hopefully I'll see you again. Here's my number.
She takes a piece of her receipt and a pen from her purse and writes down her number. She hands me the paper and I take it.
Tiffany: Bye!
And before I have a chance to say anything else, she rushes out the door.
