When I wake up for school my eyes are heavier than usual. I was up all last night with my mom going over which clubs and extra curricular activities I am going to partake my junior year. I look at my phone to check the time, hoping I just woke up too early. Sadly, it's 6:30 a.m. and I have to get ready. I roll out of bed (taking a lot of effort to do so) to pull the curtains back and peep out of my large window. I love the view from my bed room. Waves and seagulls, beyond peaceful. I sigh before I grab my things for a shower.

I'm dressed in casual skinny blue jeans and a dark blue flannel tied together with my favorite black converse. I leave my hair with loose curls and apply red lipstick. The lipstick is a new deal for me, I don't like it, but it makes a bold statement. I make my way downstairs into the kitchen. My mom is putting the freshly cleaned dishes away and my brothers are fighting over who gets the last waffle.

"Morning, darling." My mom greets with a smile. "Boys, leave the last waffle for Olivia-Grace."

"No, thanks. I'll just have an apple." I dismiss. "I've got to maintain my diet."

"Don't be that kind of dancer, you know you want the waffle. Speaking of dance, are you going to try out for the school's dance team this year?"

"Mom, I have already told you that I can't. I'm already apart of the All-Stars and if I dance with another team I'd be cheating on them. Besides, why would I want to join a dance team with a bunch of people who would just ignore me and put me in the back?" I retort.

"Anyway, did you go online to sign up to be a tutor, or are you going to sign up at school today?"

"I'm not going to sign up."

"And why not?"

"Because, I'm already known as the nerd in school. What if I want to be something more?"

"Olivia-Grace, you know this will look great on your college applications."

"I'm not going to college mother. Matter-of-fact, I'm dropping out today."

"See you in the streets daughter." My mom jokingly salutes and turn away to clean the kitchen.

Before I could reply my dad walks in wearing his typical outfit; a grey Army t shirt and gym shorts.

"Ready to go?" he asks my brothers and me.

"Olivia-Grace isn't going. She's dropping out." My mom informs my dad.

"While you're at it, sign up for tutoring." he says, showing no emotion.

"Dad!" I drag out like a pouty 3 year old.

"Don't 'dad' me." He mocks my tone, his childish side clearly coming out. When we reach his car I refuse to get in. "Get in, loser. We're going to school."

"Dad, did you just quote 'Mean Girls'?" I ask.

"What do you expect? You watch the movie everyday. I was bound to memorize some of the lines."

...

I walk through the threshold of Pacific-Coast High. I watch the girls who rush in before me, they are all so perky. I envy the girls who can walk around here with there chin up and no care in the world.

"Olivia!" The familiar girly shriek in which belongs to Ava fills my ears. Ava embraces me in the tightest hug.

"Oh, you were talking to me? The clones must not be around?" I tease.

"Oh shut it! I've missed you! Why didn't you contact me at all over the summer?" She asks.

"I did. You would always tell me you'd call back, but, of course, you never did."

"Right. I'm sorr-"

"Ava!" Another prep comes up and interrupts our conversation. Then she whispers, "Who is she?"

"I totally can't hear you." I say sarcastically, but she ignores me.

"Oh, it's nobody." Ava answers.

Nobody?

"I was just asking her where she got her lipstick. See you around, pfft or not." She adds, looking back apologetic when she walks off.

I roll my eyes, but I immediately forget about Ava when I spot Teagan and Gale sprinting towards me.

"Have you heard?" They speak at the same time.

"Have I heard what?" I ask.

"That the Junior guys this year are bigger assholes. They've got some bet going around or something, idk all of the facts though." Gale answers me.

"Why is this the first thing you tell me when you haven't seen me in forever?" I laugh.

"Girl, you've got to watch your back, I'm just helping you out. You never know when a snooty booty boy will try to pick you up and take you out to a dinner when in reality the only thing he wants to eat, is you." Gale sasses. I slap his arm hard while laughing at his pervy comment.

I carry on a conversation with them until I check the time. I have to go sign up to be a tutor, in order to please my mom and dad.

When I walk into the library I spot a group of guys, jocks I guess. I walk pass them without acknowledging them, but they notice me because they stop talking and I can feel the presence of their eyes on me.

I find the booth that says 'Need a Tutor?' and pace over to it.

I tell the petite blonde behind the booth that I'm signing up to be a tutor not to be tutored. She informs me that the three people that will be chosen for me to tutor will be posted here in the library tomorrow.

I smile but the smile fades when I notice one of the jocks from the group earlier is standing next to me. Panic rises in me.

After he signs his name he looks to me.

"I pray to God, I get assigned to you." Biting his lip, he winks and walks away.

Did my heart just stop? Oh no. Nope, I'm not going to do this again. Whenever a guy even looks at me I fall. What the hell? Why am I so naive? Why am I still standing here? Move your legs, woman!
