On the torched land of the previous mansions, housing the top most powerful households sat a polished mansion, built on the soil of the city center. After the heartbreaking passing of the society's queen, Jang Sora, the top alphas eventually returned to Seoul to establish their dominance within the wrecked council to restore stability. Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook agreed to reside at the old property after reconstructing a new mansion on the burnt land. The first few months were the toughest period because they were still mourning the ultimate supreme alpha's death, but as the year passed by, they were a little less hurt by her death. Their hearts grew numb, and only the faded memories of her remained with them, yet her presence never left their aching souls.

On a rainy night, down the dark hallway of the empty mansion, a door to a bedroom creaked open. And on the other end of the corridor lay the eldest son of Kim's household, Kim Woobin. Five years have passed since his mother left his side, but thankfully, his father, Kim Taehyung, took great care of the orphan and raised the child as his own. The father is equipping the eldest heir with extensive knowledge to prepare the soul for the weight of the power game to guarantee his future household's security. Although Kim Woobin was average, Kim Taehyung never let his child's average blood trouble his decision to transfer his assets to the orphan. The father knew the orphan was destined to be a leader even though he was birthed by the average's blood. Therefore, it was his duty as the society's leader to guide the future ruler of the society for the ruthless Game of Survival.

Kim Woobin turned to his side on the mattress as the rapid flash of lightning flickered through the wide glass window when he felt a presence inside his lavish bedroom. The heir opened his eyes and glanced at the foot of his bed to find a silhouette of a person watching him.

"Are you okay?" Woobin grumbled under his breath when he realized it was his little sister, Kim Hajin. The youngest heir stood at the foot of the bed with a stuffed animal clutched tightly in her arms.

"I couldn't sleep because of the storm," Hajin whispered nervously, so Woobin sat up on his bed and crawled towards the edge of the mattress.

"Are you scared? Come on. I'll take you back to your room-"

"I don't want to sleep alone. I'm scared," Hajin pouted and shook her head at her brother. Woobin pursed his lips and stared at his sister's frightened expression in silence. He exhaled, then reached out to ruffle her hair and got off his bed.

"Okay. You can sleep with me tonight," Woobin yawned, helping his sister onto his King Size bed. Hajin slid down on the mattress with her stuffed toy as Woobin walked into the bathroom to urinate. He washed his hand, came back out, then slipped in next to his five-year-old sister. Hajin scooted closer to her brother, so Woobin slid his arm under her neck to cushion her head and hugged her tiny body on his side. The young heir exhaled in relief when she felt her brother's comforting embrace and snuggled against him.

"Oppa," Hajin whispered with her eyes closed.

"Hmm?" Woobin questioned while patting his sister's head.

"Where's appa?" Hajin questioned out of curiosity.

"He went on a business trip to Busan. He'll be back tomorrow," Woobin replied and snuggled his face into his sister's hair to inhale her faint lily scent.
