"She said Yes!"  Yuri whispered.

The three words sent a jolt of excitement down Minju's spine.

"When?"

"Sneak to the back courtyard by 6:30"

"You already sound like a spy" Minju chuckled.

The 5 friends (Not Chaeyeon, because she had already been a spy) been begging their spy friends (and girlfriends) to teach them "Spy stuff" as Wonyoung called it - for weeks now. So they had created their own "operation" The conversation had gone like this:

Wonyoung: Every spy operation has a cool name, right?

Nako: Uhhh... sure?

Yuri: Operation Spy Stuff? *sarcastic glance at Wonyoung*

Wonyoung: *Sarcastic glance back at Yuri*

Hitomi: Operation Combat?

Minju: I don't have anything better

They had agreed to target Yena, since she was the most likely to say yes. They had wanted to go for Yujin, but she had already said no several times. Convincing Yena was Yuri's job, since she was Yena's girlfriend.

Minju leaned over to Wonyoung. "Operation Combat is ago, 6:30 at the back courtyard"

Her eyes lit up for a second, but they quickly went back to normal when Hyewon looked at them suspiciously. "What are you guys whispering about?"

Wonyoung, cool as a cucumber,  replied "How good this cake is" for extra effect, she took another bite of her dessert.

Good one Wonyoung, good one. Minju, thought, relieved. Hyewon loved food, so she nodded happily, suspicions seemingly forgotten.

I need to get better at acting. Minju thought. She knew from Chaewon that a big part of being a spy was your acting skills. Wonyoung had those down pat, that was for sure.

Minju watched as the news (carefully, so Hyewon and the others wouldn't know again) spread around the table. If she tried, she could read their lips. Operation combat. 6:30, back courtyard. And she watched, as they all tried to contain their excitement.

Minju glanced around carefully at the unknowing spies. She felt worst about deceiving Chaewon - because she was her girlfriend - and Chaeyeon - because they had been friends for years, and would probably have gotten the operation done a lot quicker. They had decided not to include her because she had made it clear several times that she was done with the spy world and didn't want to be involved. And since she was technically a part of the spy group it might get to the rest of them, and they wanted to avoid that at all costs. All they would do is tell them no. And they wouldn't take no for an answer

Minju asked her mom "Mom, can I hang out with some friends from school?"

Her parents didn't doubt this at all. So she ran out the door - with as much stealth as she possibly could, because even though probably Chaewon probably wouldn't be out, who knew who she had connections to?

She was a bit tired, but also exhilarated. Like she had a special secret to keep. Was this what being a spy felt like? What Chaewon felt like all the time?

If so, it was awesome.

Okay, Minju. Are you ready? Because Operation Combat is on.
